I don't mean really YOUNG kids, but this one has a competition for a DS in a brightly-coloured star-shaped box, and articles about parent's divorces, joining street gangs and computer games. The covers I see (and I have only ever seen covers) tend to be aimed slightly older. Y'know, with politics an' stuff.Mouthfullofjoy wrote:Um...the topics arent aimed at "kids" most of the stuff they talk about isnt ment for kids i would say ages 15 through 25 maybe
I think that Pac Man's meant to be Alfred.

I think it's a little weird how they really captured the look of Halo, Tomb Raider, Splinter Cell, and whatever fighting game that Chun Li is from (looks like SNK-style?), making them all look fairly authentic, while Sonic, Mario, and Crash are all drawn in the same "cartoon" style with no regard to the art styles developed around them.

Probably because they were drawn by different artists, cockwit.
So what's the article like? Is it funny? I remember an article in an old Next Generation (rest its soul) called "You Are Not a Hardcore Gamer -- Unless..." Then it goes on to a checklist of, like, 130 or something different pecularities of people who play alot of games, which were all funny but quite a few were woefully accurate. Stuff like, "You have played mental Tetris with real-world objects", "You have paused Street Fighter to look at Chun-li's underwear", "You can play a serious (non button-mashing) game with any of the Virtua Fighter characters", etc, etc.
Man, remember when you could call yourself a "hardcore" gamer or even a "gamer" and not be ashamed of it? These days I don't openly acknowledge that I play games at all, and generally have very little to say to the halfwits who do. It's a different scene, and not a better one.
