Jim owns all.
While I don't agree that Carrey overall owns Nicholson, I have to agree that Carrey would have made a better Joker than Nicholson. His over-the-top acting would have fit the Joker's personality.

Personally
, I don't think either actor did or would do the character justice, although I think Nicholson's interpretation was much better than anything Carrey would offer. Mainly because the Joker isn't supposed to be funny, he's supposed to be creepy. I can't say I much care for the "bad pun" version of the Joker; I much prefer the creepy homocidal maniac version that's called "the Joker" only because of his unsettling and ever-present grin, not because of his penchant for awful jokes.

At the height of it's quality - the animated series Joker can be both of those things simultaneously. A sick and twisted homocidal maniac who actually packs a bunch of great one-liners. You're afraid of him because he's going to rot away your flesh in acid - but at the same time, he'll say something really hilarious while he's doing it. So you have to at least give him props for that - the mind numbing terror and pain aside.

Jim Carrey is also one of the two best choices as Lupin in the proposed live-action Lupin the III movie. The other choice being Bruce Campbell.
But who do you get to play Zenigata? The two have to constantly be topping eachother.

Unless you wanted to get Carrey to play Zenigata AND Lupin.

Or get Robin Williams to play old man Zenigata.

Man, I'd hate to be on that set. Two giant hams fighting for the camera. But that's really the dynamic between the two characters as well.

There's a SH movie in the works, and Boll is nowhere near it, thank god.

Yeah, that was one of the greatest things about B:TAS, how it was able to incorporate all of these different versions of characters into one.

Still, I prefer the Joker not making any jokes at all, but that's just me.

I like it because it makes for a nice parallel.

We have Batman - a psychopathic, paranoid, nearly emotionless good guy who wouldn't know humor or most other human feelings if they tried to bite him on the ass (they wouldn't actually get close enough to do the biting). A man who's expressions generally are less dynamic than a sack full of bricks.

Then we have the Joker - a psychopathic, biploar, emotion-filled bad guy who loves humor, jokes, and elaborate black comedy and generally despises anyone who takes themselves, the world, or death too seriously. Especially Batman!

Thus, we have an interesting dichotomy. A cold-hearted hero who surpresses positive emotions and a gore-loving villain who revels in them.

That Uwe Boll is really starting to scare the shit out of me. I can't believe the movie industry green lights the stupid shit he's doing, and it's freaking me out because he might start to touch on video games that are actually decent.

Alone in the Dark is a classic series that pretty much created the survival horror genre that eventually spawned Resident Evil and Silent Hill. So he's already bad enough.

Hollywood green lights a lot of stupid stuff. That's why we are seeing commercials for Son of the Mask.

And is Uwe Boll trying to be the next Ed Wood? Has he ever directed anything original instead of video-game based movies?

House of the Dead was also classic in its own sense. And Uwe Boll raped it to death also.

At least those next three games are crappy.

What I can't believe is that he actually thinks he's doing these games justice (or else why would he keep making them). Or maybe he thinks he'll eventually manage to get it right after enough trial and error... mostly complete and utter error.

The man thinks he is doing us all a favour, fighting to make these terrible movies. If you scroll down a bit here, there is an interview with him:

There was actually a special comic (the one in wich the batgirl is shot and crippled) where in the end the Joker manages to make a joke that actually makes Batman LAUGH THE CRAP OUT of himself. It's even frightful.

That's part of what makes him such a unique character. His batshit insanity.

I put my hand in some batshit once. It wasn't insane, just kinda warm and goopy.
