Personally, I don't think either actor did or would do the character justice, although I think Nicholson's interpretation was much better than anything Carrey would offer. Mainly because the Joker isn't supposed to be funny, he's supposed to be creepy. I can't say I much care for the "bad pun" version of the Joker; I much prefer the creepy homocidal maniac version that's called "the Joker" only because of his unsettling and ever-present grin, not because of his penchant for awful jokes.
