Sonic DS ROM

Post by Spazz »

<a href="http://bt.s0nicfreak.com/details.php?id=2589">No shit. Torrent here.</a>

Too bad the only <a href="http://www.ndsemulator.com/">DS emulator</a> out right now can only play GBA roms though.
So, we don't exactly know if it's actually the real thing or not as of now.

Hahahaha! After Sonic Advance 3 and this being leaked so early, there's definately some Sega insider at work spreading the games out early.

Of course, everyone knows that the Nintendo DS was designed with an extra-screen and touch-sensitive interface SPECIFICALLY so that people would have a bitch of a time emulating it.

What? You thought they had good gameplay ideas concerning the DS's features?! HAH! It's all just to stop piracy.

Well if that is the case then and no one uses the touchscreen then why wouldn't an emulator work on a PC?

I don't think the dual screens would be that difficult to emulate, it's the touch pad that makes it hopeless. And as Zeta pointed out, the reason the design is so bizarre in the first place is specifically to discourage piracy.

Having that said, I find it extremely unlikely that that rom is indeed of Sonic DS, which apparently isn't even at a point where it can be revealed yet. Maybe that tech demo shown at E3, if it's even a DS game in the first place.

If it can't play DS ROMs then what exactly makes it a DS emulator? :PR:

You could I guess use the mouse in place of the touchpad. Or a laptop's trackpad (much as I hate those things)

I figure, yeah - thats eventually how people will emulate DS games - two windows with the different screens, and you click on them with the mouse to work the touchpad features.

Still, it'll problably be a little while before someone figures out how to implement it in actual code.

Feh, seems fake to me. I remember Sonic's DS model looking a lot smoother than that.

I still don't want to play a Sonic game in which Sonic runs faster when I rub him harder.

And considering how distasteful the concept is to ME, I can't begin to imagine how WRONG it seems to a straight male.

And with less buckle-naked leg in stomach action.

It looks a tad too good for a fan-made model to me, though. I dunno . . .

It's the real thing, I just watched the video, and I'm pretty sure I can safely say it's the same. The shading and the low amount of polygons look very much the same.
I don't know how well you can see it here but, you can compare it to this:
<img src="http://www.nintendo.com/e3_2004/img/ds/ ... s_ss12.jpg">
You can tell just by looking at Sonic's blocky arm.

...I need a moment. I must laugh at the potential innuendo.

Eh... I don't know. I mean, Sonic's arms in the model are a lot thicker than in the in-game screencap. And his gloves and hands seem quite a bit smaller in the "rip."

Anyone with 10 minutes of free time could whip that up in any halfway decent 3D modeling program.

Sonic in sonic DS has fingers. The model does not.

I'm afraid it's not the same model. The Sonic running on the DS is based on the Sonic Adventure 2 character model. The model that was taken from the supossed ROM is more akin to the Sonic Adventure 1 version.

Rest easy, Lee. He has buckles on Nintendo's DS.
