They don't but I've definitely seen what he just mentioned happen in a few demos, mainly in some of the older live arcade game demos though.

Oh, right, I know what you're saying now. They talk about how you WOULD have unlocked the achievement if you owned the full thing, right?
...still, they don't actually give you the achievement, so what I said is still true.

Huh, no one here seems concerned about Super Sonic returning to non-final stages. I suppose that's for the best.

I think maybe because we (or at least some of us) spent years clamouring for it, but spent so long waiting that we realised maybe it isn't such a great idea after all, so now the news doesn't faze us.

Super Sonic actually sucks and is a game breaker. People always get upset when you give them something and later take it away, though.

I'm actually quite thrilled to have my game-breaking bonus mode in the game. Bring it on.

Have fun listening to the invincibility theme loop over and over.

Never bothered me that much in S3&K, doubt it'll bother me much here.

Agreed. Rewarding the most skilled players with "God Mode" is an inherently ill-conceived idea. People only whine about Super Sonic's absence because it was in the old games and not the new games, and anything that was in the old games but not the new ones must be awesome.Neo wrote:Super Sonic actually sucks and is a game breaker. Super Sonic was too much of a chore. I didn't care for that mechanic. It was especially stupid in Sonic Advance. And way too easy in Adventure.

Re: All-new 2D Sonic rolling out in 2010
That sums up my feelings. It's little more than a glorified invicibility cheat and I don't know why people make such a fuss seeing it return. I hope they at least let you switch it on and off this time rather than have it permanently activate once you have all the emeralds.gr4yJ4Y wrote:When I was a kid I liked Super Sonic, but now I wouldn't care for him.

C'mon... can't any of you guys pull that first feeling of amazement you had when you jumped and Sonic turned glowing yellow and bizarrely fast?
Plus, if you don't want to, then just don't.

This is exactly what's wrong with Super Sonic. Getting the emeralds nets you Super Sonic, which is easy mode, but it also nets you the good ending. So if you manage to clear the game in hard mode, you're rewarded with the bad ending!?Gaz wrote:I hope they at least let you switch it on and off this time rather than have it permanently activate once you have all the emeralds.
It's usually not that big of a deal, but in Sonic & Knuckles they actually forbid you from playing the last stage! I mean, what the fuck!
That being said, limiting Super Sonic to the final stage is the perfect way to solve this problem, and everybody moans and groans about it.

Re: All-new 2D Sonic rolling out in 2010
I kinda thought it would be smart to give an extra Super Sonic level - one that uses regular game mechanics...just a normal level that happens to be balls-to-the-wall hard even for Super Sonic, and almost impossible after losing the super form.
A kind of stage that would give even "super players" a headache, not the orgasmic flight into space that everyone completes after learning the controls for 15 minutes. That way, I could deal with having Super Sonic in every level...because there'd be a point to it (master the controls while you have the chance or the last level will smear you all over the floor if you don't).

SCANZ
Nothing much new, but a better look at some stage features. The breakable walls look pretty swish. Accompanying interview with Iizuka apparently hints at the inclusion of Knuckles and Tails in Episode 2, calling Episode 1 a prologue of sorts. Also, Sonic returns to roots, etc etc. HOMING ATTACK AMAGAD I'LL SHOOT YOUR DOG SEGA and so on.
So I was watching that leaked footage for, like, the thousandth time, but this time I wore headphones and cranked the volume super high. The music sounds so much better when you can hear the bass. I really like how this whole thing is shaping up.

So, they make a selling point of only Sonic being playable, but now they say Tails and Knuckles will be in episode 2, okey, Tails is a Sonic fanboy, but why is Knuckles back? What, Eggman had no better idea that to steal the master emerald AGAIN?

Tails and Knuckles I can live with. It's the possibility that Shadow and any other furry can possibly make episode 3 or 4.

But you can break walls WITHOUT Knuckles in episode 1, what they are to do? Make that same kind of walls unbreakable in episode 2 unless you use Knuckles? That would be so cheap...

S3&K had some walls you could break with any character, and others you could only break with Knuckles.
