3D Dot Heroes

If'n this ever gets localized I may actually have to get a PS3. It's like classic Zelda all over again. You know, the Zelda with difficulty and no furry love interest for a creepy fanbase to write slashfic about.

Also pixels. I like pixels.

I was interested, but then at 0:01 it said 'From Software'.

"Furry love interest"?

This is amazing though. I can't believe they can get away with this, it seems like lawsuit material for sure.

It looks cool, no doubt. I just hope it's more than a funky Zelda clone. Bet they could do some innovative stuff with that 3D pixelation.

And that said, I'm surprised Nintendo hasn't released the lawyers yet. Then again, Sega got away with Pole scott-free.

No, no, you mean wolf link - that's what you're talking about.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised to see people call Captain Kirk a furry because of all of the aliens he banged.

Having sex with everything around you and literally changing into a furry are two different things (I understand there is some overlap).

So back to the game. Why does the camera view suck?

Maybe the angle in the trailer is just for cinematic purposes rather than direct gameplay footage. Probably not though, oh well.

Man, the word furry is bandied around a lot lately. What exactly is the definition again?

That's pretty much my sentiment to the letter. I'm still waiting for those guys to make a game that's as awesome as it looks. I don't think this is going to be it, as much as I'd like to believe otherwise.

It is pretty, anyway, but the depth of field is set way too close.

From Software is only the publisher; the actual developer is Silicon Studio.

It's funny how these people think pixels are supposed to be some kind of ancient Lego-like videogame construction blocks.

They think these games looked like this:

When actually they looked more like this:

Somehow I don't think a game made out of scanlines would have the same appeal.

That said scanlines really do it for me in terms of nostalgia. Remember when even the screen shots in game magazines had scanlines on them?

People had shitty TVs back then. Everything had scanlines.

Makes me wonder when we'll get games that pay a proper graphical tribute to the Genesis/SNES/(uh...)TurboGrafx era.

If ever. Are there any obvious examples I overlooked?

Generally, anthropomorphic animals. Also used to refer to the people who regularly draw them. Also used to the people who regularly view them. Also (more frequently, if only slightly erroneously) used to refer to the people who actively participate in the more sexual aspect of it (drawing/viewing). Also (erroneously) used to refer to those into flat-out beastiality. (Wolf Link is furry, but is not a furry. That being said, if you REALLY thought he was hot like that, this would imply that you're into animals, i.e. beastiality, i.e. you sick bastard. At least furries are vaguely human-like.)

That's just my guess, though. Hell if I know, the thing gets tossed around as an insult so frequently that it's hard to bring the subject up in any context.

What about stuff like this? I'd call that furry. It's not anthro, but it is personified.

The fact of the matter is, you can't have two opposite gendered humanoid animal vegetable mineral animate existing characters without creeps pairing them up and having them fuck each other.

This game, though, we have a clean slate. For now, anyway.

Re: anthropomorphism. It is just plain giving a non-human thing distinctly human traits. (i.e. having a dog or washing machine talk is anthropomorphism)

Wait... this looks more like an homage to old 3D games... or a Lego wannabe...

I wouldn't, personally, although I can see what you're getting at.

Point is, the term's really not very-well defined. Everything from something as minor as catgirls to as extreme as normal animals (be they anthropomorphic by Bugman's definition or not) is covered under the banner of "furry" to varying degrees. Some things are blatantly obviously part of the niche, others not as much.

Wasn't this topic about a video game? A rather promising-looking one, at that. Shame it's for the only console this generation I don't own.

I think the topic changed into Link being a furry faggot. From what I played in the newest DS one, he is certainly a faggot, but he never got all furry yet (although I am not done!). Maybe the strange paedophile man on the boat gets some ideas later in the game.

And about scanlines... I do not really notice them. Am I doing something wrong when I turn on my Genesis? Everything seems clean, clear, and under control for the most part. Not all dark with jagged lines of crap everywhere.

Also, one more thing. What is a Silicon Studio? I cannot find anything on them.
