I haven't had any problems with my BC 80GB.

I just finished setting up my new 80 gig. As usual, some of the save data didn't copy - of course I lost all my Mainichi Issho stuff again (I'm not even going to download it again) and the Metal Gear database refuses to read my save data because it wasn't made on this system. (What in the world is the purpose of that?)

As far as I can see, it's identical to the 40 gig except I guess for the hard drive. I can't imagine the disc drive components are any different from the faulty older models. Let's see how long this one lasts. :PR:

Please loan me 400 bucks.

I'll loan you $400.

If, and only if, you significantly and fully update every page in the Museum.

You're going to spend $400 for a non-time-sensitive deal that would, at best, increase the quality of already thorough pages? I suggest you invest it in getting something post-Heroes up in there.

I'd loan $400 at 150% interest.

Lesson learned: turn the damn system off during heavy rain, stupid.

How fitting/cruel that my second major console malfunction is my 7 year old Gamecube again (first time was my 1019 card's sudden and still-unexplained death). While using it, the power blinked off twice in quick succession, and since then the system hasn't turned back on. Push the power switch and it will do nothing. Nothing suggested on this page works. I'm guessing an electrical surge finished off the power supply or something internal.

Above all else, do I have anything to worry about with the memory cards taking electrical damage? If all my data for this system goes boom a second time my sanity may just implode with it. Otherwise, if there's not something i'm missing, then I believe the ole cube is beyond just retirement. Oh-so-sharp timing since Nintendo is the only goddamn one left not to drop the price of their current home console!

Do you have any way to try it with a different AC adapter? That's the only thing I can come up with.

Me too, but I don't have extra Gamecube adapters.

Nintendo will bill me 50 bucks to have them repair a long-out-of-warranty system...it's looking easier and easier to pick a suitable replacement system out.

My 360 finally red ringed today.

It's a good thing I don't have any friends or I might not be able to afford this hobby.

Lame, man.

I got myself the fancy new model PS3 yesterday. Smaller and lighter than the 360, looks real nice. Came bundled with GTA4 for $499... AUD of course. I should probably try setting it up today.

I need to get one of those. I would have already if I hadn't just shelled out for a new 80gig a few weeks ago. If I'd known they were gonna release the new model so soon I'd have just waited.

What's the surface like? It's not as glossy, is it?

Yeah, it's a matte finish all over except for the 'flat' sides of the console and the PS3 logo indentation, which is glossy and stands out really nicely. On the other hand, the chrome panel with the power and eject buttons is mirror-like in its smoothness.
