Conjoined at the abdomen
So a couple of weeks back I checked in my pantry to see if I had any snacks and found two moths which were placed peculiarly close together. I proceeded to flick the moths (because the moths around here are slow as shit and won't fly away) off the wall, and, to my surprise, the moths were conjoined at the abdomen. (or something like that). They even flew together... but they seemed to have trouble walking around as they couldn't decide which direction they were headed in...
Fast forward to 10 minutes past midnight Monday, June 08 2009 (several weeks later), the moth is still there, and very much alive (this is remarkable because I'm talking about the feeble and short lived moths which frequent my pantrys and live for less than two days).
I think it's beginning to reproduce...

I once saw a 4 legged chicken. Except its back two legs weren't really walking, they were just kind of dangling there.

Me too, it was the mother of all my roach problems on my old house.

Dude, you probably interrupted some hot moth-on-moth action. I've seen butterflies do it like that.

What is wrong with moths? I like to capture them in my hand and let them flutter around a bit, then put them outside.
The spiders on my lights also really enjoy eating them. So it all seems good to me.

I'm with Kogen on this. Generally, as long as I don't have a knee jerk reaction and smack something that's bitten me, I'll take it outside...
...except for ticks. I will crush ticks with the nearest heavy object, then grind them against the floor until I am sure they are dead.

You have ticks living indoors? Is your home full of tall grass or something?

I have never even seen a tick before.
I assume it is some sort of land leach.

Actually, it's this guy with a huge chin who dresses up in a blue bodysuit and goes around fighting crime with his partner, Arthur. But good guess anyway!

I had to pull two ticks off of a dog at work a couple weeks ago. Apparantly you can't feel them after they latch on and could go undetected for a good while.

I doubt a conjoined larva could ever pupate into a moth and survive.

Now, now, have you seen it guarding something withing your pantry? Perhaps a small, barely visible vortex of energy? If so, you have what we entomologists call the Cerberus Moth (Cautorus Hades). What it's guarding is the portal to Bug Hell, located within your pantry. Worry not as a steady sacrificial offering of argyle socks will placate them.

Yes. That is actually a four-eyed leaf demon, not a moth.gr4yJ4Y wrote:Looks can be deceiving.

I think they just appear in your sock drawer after you've become old enough to find golf interesting.

Try having hundreds of grasshoppers fly into your face. That's an adrenaline rush for ya.
All the moths in the Midwest are brown, small and boring. And to the best of my knowledge, none of them are conjoined...

The thread already decided that the moths were making love in Hulkshmash's pantry.Wombatwarlord777 wrote:Try having hundreds of grasshoppers fly into your face. That's an adrenaline rush for ya.
