I'm under the assumption that they'll be localized to "Heart of Gold" and "Soul of Silver" or something like that.

I don't think they'll be changing the names again, that hasn't happened since the original games (and even then it was just because they thought Blastoise was more marketable than Venusaur), save for Platinum/Platina. The Gold/Silver remakes were probably concieved a good long while back (possibly still on the GBA) but their names were still uncertain at the time. I don't think HeartGold makes any more sense than WhiteGold or DuskGold, but I guess they can't go with FireGold for obvious reasons. RainbowGold? :)

Ooh, never thought about it the way Rob-Bert mentioned it. That makes a bit more sense, and hints of some Engrish as well!

Sweet, if they localize it to Heart of Gold, I'll get my original version and be making a small Hitchhiker's reference.

I'm very, VERY happy right now, even IF we have to likely wait until May 2010 to get it translated.

And I highly doubt we'd get a name change--after all, I was certain that "LeafGreen" would be turned into "WaterBlue" for its' US release, but that didn't happen.

The first screenshots are out. Gold's outfit is now black and yellow instead of orange and yellow and you can keep Pokemon (or at least your starters, their evolutions, and likely at least Pikachu and a couple of others from Platinum's PalPark) outside of their Pokeballs.

Famitsu scan. Of particular note is the top section of the right page; the screenshot shows the bottom screen being used for accessing the menu (party, items, save, etc.), not mentally-deficient watch functions.

I wonder if the female trainer is supposed to be an update of the female trainer in Pokemon Crystal or an entirely new design. The hairstyle is more or less the same aside from the colour but otherwise there's little resemblance. I'm glad they're not using the original design because it was a bit too out there and definitely the weakest playable character/rival design in the entire series, but it would have been nice to keep a bit more resemblance.

I don't really see how the original Crystal design is "too out there". The new one is a lot weirder to me, even with more pedestrian brown hair. Kind of like they gave a Mario-girl cosplayer some Pokeballs. Gold looks alright. I can see that they took the same approach as the Red redesign and tightened it up. I was a fan of the baggier clothes, ridiculous bangs, and the silly gold shorts, but it's a good design all-in-all.

I think the names are cool. Much better than the rumored ones that people have been kicking around. Also, since the game's region is based on the Kansai region where much of Japan's history is preserved(namely Kyoto), Heart/Soul seem like pretty appropriate titles.

Here's hoping they keep a touch of that Autumnal color scheme they used in the GBC version. I thought it was a beautiful effect, even if it was done mostly for hardware limitations. I hope we can still make those apricorn balls too! Like I said, the GS generation was my favorite, so if they cut anything I'll probably be just a little disappointed(though I won't hold my breath for a Time Machine).

On another note, I've got my nephew playing Pokemon for the first time through FireRed. He wasted his Master Ball on a Ditto. Oh to be young again!

Also, it looks like one of the two Pokemon giveaways for the 12th movie in Japan (a shiny Pichu) is apparently the new trigger item in order to unlock and catch Celebi in Ilex Forest.

On a semi-related topic, the Japanese GameFreak blog said that the team went to the zoo recently to get ideas for new Pokemon. Cute.

So, if you think of how many pokemon games you need to fill that damn dex, you just get really angry at Gamefreak.. what happened to the times when you only needed 2 or 3?.

Actually, I completed the PokeDex in Diamond without trading with anyone just by going online.

You can trade Pokeymans online now. Also, almost all Pokemon are readily obtainable in Diamond and Pearl except for the Hoenn and Kanto Legendaries.

Let's hope all 493 monsters are included (they're using the Ranch models, so it's likely).

Honestly, I would rather they didn't.

They appear to be wind-up toys. At least they have an excuse in-context now.

Am I the only one that doesn't mind the Ranch models? I thought they looked kind of charming.

I like the Ranch models. I actually like them more than the N64 3D models that Nintendo insists on not updating.

Also, more news - Gold and Silver will come with a pedometer that you can transfer your Pokemon to via Wifi. Walking around with it attached to your fat ass will level the stored Pokemon up and increase it's happiness.

Wow, Pokemon Pikachu 3! It's been a while. I guess it's appropriate for a GS remake.

I carried the Color one around with me for years and got a total of more than 2,000,000 steps. You get a special message when you first reach a million too. Although I'll admit I primarily used it as a watch, so even if they released a new one my pocket watch would have already made it obsolete... Although I'd buy it anyway.

Except if you payed attention, it's actually not done though wireless at all.

The game card is going to have a built-in infrared transmitter, making the Poké Walker's setup exactly like Personal Trainer: Walking's Activity Meter. Considering that Personal Trainer was made by Creatures Inc., one of the three companies which hold the rights for the Pokémon brand, this isn't surprising.

According to the official site, walking with a Pokémon will increase its experience and happiness, and you can collect Watts to use either on the Item Finder or the Poké Radar, which will net you items and wild Pokémon to transfer back to the DS games.

So it's like an unholy mash of Pokemon Pikachu, Personal Trainer: Walking, and the in-game Pokemon Day Care? Sounds pretty neat.

NEW INFORMATION~

1) Beating the Eltie Four unlocks Groudon in SoulSilver or Kyogre in HeartGold And, apparently, capturing said Mons in either of their respective versions unlocks Rayquaza to be caught.

2) Transferring the second Movie 12 Event Pokemon--Arceus, the "god of all Pokemon"--into HG or SS apparently unlocks a special event involving Arecus and Cynthia(!), and also allows you to go to some unknown special location and catch a Level 1 Dialga, Palkia, OR Giratina.

3) New scan artwork of Prof. Elm, "Silver" (the jerkass rival from GS), and a female Rocket Grunt has been shown, and Battle screens appear to be similiar to Platinum's (I assume that means "significant" Trainer battles have animated Trainer sprites like Pt does).

Pal Park. Failing that, HGSS will have the rest.
