When tallied up it looks 'spoilt like every year, but except for the first thing, I think my luck was better in '07 ($120 Panera's gift card. seriously).

* Sony Cybershot Digital Camera - 8.1 megapixels, 5x optical zoom, Steadyshot, and several other cool buzzwords. It tis awesome, aside from confusion that arises when the preview isn't at all a correct indication of what will happen when you click the shutter.

To celebrate this fantastic prize, here's my most favorite achievement in Sonic Rush!

Image

* Two 2GB Memory Sticks to go with that camera

* Amusing exchange: I got dad Batman Begins on DVD. I wound up with The Dark Knight :p
* I also got him the new Rambo, though technically this is for me to swipe at any time

* Some sort of dark green hoodie from my aunt - incidentally, if the order didn't get fouled up, I should be getting one of these bad boys in the mail soon.

* Another $10 Burger King gift card (still haven't used up the last one, somehow)
* 50 United States dollar
* Under the same "give then swipe" clause as above, dad/me myself and I got Dark Side of the Moon and some Stevie Ray Vaughn collection.
* A book titled "Grilled Cheese & More". Some tasty looking stuff in there, though quite why they wasted a page on "Classic Grilled Cheese" is, well...
* A NASCAR hat with bitchin' flames on it (see also: Jeff Gordon's new paint scheme next year)
* Some sort of paint-by-numbers thing that looks like an Indycar race
* Two Zits collections (sorry, "Sketchbooks"), one of which I already had
* Small bottles of generic-looking cologne from my aunt >_>
* Assorted candies (yay Crunch, boo Reese's Cups) and lesser junk not worth mention.

Oh and I have a birthday happening in 9 hours. But that would be bragging.

My stepbrothers moved away to California, so my family passively aggressively spent all their Christmas money on ME. This is the most stuff I've gotten since I was like 10:

* Harvest Moon Wii
* Wario Land Wii
* De Blob
* New Hard Drive
* Team Fortress 2
* Ninja Town
* Digimon World Championship
* Pokemon Ranger 2
* Sentinel Prime Action Figure
* Meowth Plush
* Candy
* Clothes
* Family Guy DVDs

On a side note, I notice my Firefox now doesn't flag Pokemon as a misspelled word anymore.

Really now? I halfway counted on the NASCAR hat to get some alarm bells ringing, but you're that interested in what all the other stuff says? As opposed to analyzing the 15 or so other lists in this thread?

How intruiging. Hope i'm not dissapointed by your excuse!

Eight. This is how many posts i've made making a complaint, criticsm, or content suggestion about this site in 2008. Or, specifically it's how many different ones I found for this year searching for the terms "front page", "site", "update" and "updates" in my posts. Three of those took place two weeks ago. The rest of the time, I excercised some self-restraint.

Now, whether or not what I have to say about the condition of the site is entitlement problems is another hornet's nest altogether (and if you or anyone insist on stirring it, please do it in a PM so we can be civil about it). And i'm fully aware you enjoy trolling people. So do I. But am I supposed to believe that eight posts on the subject of this place in a year falls into what you define as constant complaining?

* New TV to replace my roommate's crap 10-inch TV/VCR combo.
* Kirby Super Star Ultra. A lot more enjoyable than my last try at the series, Nightmare in Dream Land, though a bit short.
* Wario Land: Shake It! Just started playing this evening, I'm liking how many (relatively) secret areas there are compared to 4.
* Robot Chicken Season 1 - Just seen some stuff on YouTube, this one was a big surprise.
* The family-honored tradition of giving the kids LEGO. Some "Bionicle" crap.
* A couple of gift cards and money, mostly from relatives who realize I'm pretty hard to please when it comes to presents.

Also, now I want a Meowth plushie.

So on Christmas Eve on our way to our aunt's house, me and my brother got into a discussion about headphones - specifically headphones vs. earbuds. I explained that earbuds tend to fall out and that headphones tend to be more comfortable. But he said he liked earbuds better than headphones because they can be put away more easily. He seemed a little defensive about it, which is unusual for him, but I didn't think much of it.

...Until the next day when I opened up my present from him and it was a pair of Skullcandy earbuds (and a Domo-kun plushie). I feel bad about taking the earbuds back, so I tried them out last night. They have terrible sound quality and I couldn't get either sides to stick in my left ear. My old Sony headphones that are falling apart are more comfortable and sound much better. I thought I had specified on my wish list, but I looked at it again and it just says, "headphones." I think I got mixed up because I had a conversations about it with my mom around Thanksgiving.

And Journey of Dreams has been fairly enjoyable so far. I started playing it with very low expectations though.

Earbuds come with different sized coverings so they can fit in different sized ears. Try that before you give up on them -- Skull Candy make a pretty decent pair of buds.

I got an AWESOME chamois button up shirt, some waders, a gift certificate to the feed store that I buy my bird feed at, a shirt that says "I come with my own background music" and a few other miscellaneous things.

It is fairly enjoyable. Unless you're the completionist like I am, in which case you'll feel like killing Boat NiGHTS soon enough.

I got a DS Lite, a battery charger, a sandwich toaster, a comic book and a good deal of candy and cash. I also got a shiny new laptop on my birthday ten days before.

My brother got himself an Xbox 360 yesterday. It's already broken.

So did I, but nothing could really prepare me for Tweeters, or whatever the damn owl was named. Him and everyone else just. Would. Not. Shut. Up. That, and the GC/Classic/Nunchuck analog sticks weren't designed with NiGHTS-style gameplay in mind. Plus they destroyed the basic time attack/high score mechanic that made the original so enjoyable. Plus they added stupid, unskippable secondary missions that taxed my patience to the limit. Also random crappy platforming.

So yes, aside from those things it is a functional game.

I think his name is just Owl. I don't think the voice acting is nearly as annoying as most Sonic games at least.

The uncircular Nintendo controllers aren't ideal, but I don't think they break the game.

I can't argue with you on these points. But you forgot to mention that you have to replay entire chase missions when you "wake up" while fighting a boss. And that some of the cutscenes are unskippable.

The way people were talking about it, you'd think it was another Shadow the Hedgehog. It's a pretty fun and competent game.

It's competent, but compared to the original it's a critical failure with no real reason to exist. It's impossible for me not to judge it against its predecessor, and when you do, well, it comes up drastically short.

Oh, also, NiGHTS's voice. It terrifies me.

I actually dislike earbuds for the same reasons as you. I kind of thought that I was alone in that regard. What really creeps me out is that I see people share their uncleaned earbuds with their friends. Adding to the fact that people turn up the volume all the way, I wouldn't be suprised if we see a large percentage of deaf people in 50 years.

I got Journey of Dreams for my birthday last year and had a hard time finding the motivation to play it. When I finally got around to it, I found the controls to be a bit clumsy (I only played using the GameCube controller), which is a significant flaw if you are going for score. The voices creeped me out and I had a hard time with the missions. I never got to the platforming segments, as I quit and traded the game in after the first two dream sequences. Like Neo, I am a completionist, which is why I couldn't really enjoy the game.

I got myself an I-pod, t-shirts... and R$500,00. Not bad, I guess.
On a somewhat unrelated note, I'm considering to buy me a copy of Megaman ZX. Is it worth it?

So yeah, here's to a happy 2009. Cheers!

Well, the series as a whole is good, but you won't be able to get some of the stuff from Advent without knowing the events of the first game...

@Megaman ZX: I actually preferred the first one, but they're both good. Start at the beginning if you care about the story, tough.
