Wahoo Anew
Klonoa comes to the Wii... at least, what appears to be a remake of the first one to look more like the second one.
I mean, I'd buy it if it ever came out here. Played it on an emulator, loved it, want to buy it, but it's a tad expensive for a PS1 game. A Wii rerelease would probably be a bit more sensible.
Only gripe I have right now is that if it's a remake of the first, why aren't his eyes yellow...?

Totally rad ocular surgery. That, or an attempt at some consistency with most of the franchises' other iterations.
Now, IT'S GAMBEL TIEM! Will this come over to the States or Europe or anywhere at all?

...I'm a lucky man. I'm able to like hanging around here every now and again even though I have absolutely no fucking clue what you people are talking about half the time.

Annnnnd Scamco strikes again!
UGH! Really Namco? And this is an attempt to make him suddenly appealing to American audience? Bleh...I just got a survey dropped into my inbox from Bandai-Namco, with the entire question set based on Klonoa. Based on the information in the survey, and the pictures included, it looks like Bandai-Namco is planning to bring Klonoa: Door to Phantomile to the states.
Also, the survey asks which of the designs you like better. My guess is, Bandai-Namco is thinking the one on the left will appeal more to North America. I like the one on the right…

The left picture isn't bad by any means, but I fail to see how it's so different that it would apparently appeal to Americans more. He looks like one of those uninspired animal's from those 90's platforming games that showed up after Sonic. At least he's not grimacing or something.
I'm assuming they wont change his design.

Extreme Fucking Blinx the Timesweeper as Klonoa! WONDERFUL.
He'd make a nice unlockable skin, though, along with the Klonoa 2 model.

There's the survey to get rid of the ugly.

Re: Wahoo Anew
Not really fair to compare a drawing to a 3D model. I like the one on the left better as a drawing, but taking away Klonoa's hat is going to make him really dark on screen and reduce his visibility. This would not be a good move.
Edit: I hope they like comments in their survey, I just sent them a huge one. Based on the other questions it sounds like the problem is that people are looking at Klonoa and thinking the game will be "too easy," and not so much a problem with appealing to American taste.

Right, because buckets of blood and angry musclemen and scantily clad ladies automatically means the game's hard. Sure.
HardCORE, maybe, but hard... sure.
I like the new design, but it's definitely inferior to the original design. Voted as such.
Although if we're going for alternative skins, seeing as all the cutscenes are now model-based so they'd have made this model anyway, I'd rather see Klonoa in his jammies from the opening, for the lulz-value.

Klonoa's always been a favorite of mine. I guess it's time to dust off the Wii.
And I'd enjoy the drawing more if Klonoa had his hat. It's just a thing with me.

Even as someone who's never played any Klonoa games, I prefer the old style. Much more unique with the ears and the hat. The other guy looks like a Pokémon.

The new one looks like a gayer version of Ratchet trying to dress like Tidus.

I guess I could get used to the new design if I had to, but why mess with a good thing?
And aren't those kind of hats somewhat in style right now (in the states at least)?

Right now? I haven't seen many hats around here in the US. What's big now is emo stuff. Dark clothing, boys wearing tight jeans, and having shoulder-length hair with one eye covered. For me it's annoying and arousing at the same time.

Emo fashion is basically punk fashion castrated; all the elements that could get you fired from any professional workplace replaced with elements that might piss off your parents a little bit.

On a related note, I miss Klonoa's collars.

For the longest time I thought that Klonoa was a girl, and also a cat. The ears made a lot more sense when I discovered otherwise.

Re: Wahoo Anew
He isn't. That is, he's a fantasy animal creature from the Breezegale race. Although really he seems to be just a cat with bunny ears, in terms of actual design.

Yah, cat was pretty much the first thing that came to mind when I first glanced. As much as I dislike the ears I still prefer it to the artwork on the left. The combination of a few features and the soft airbrushed look reminds me too of VG Cats or something I’ve seen on the net.

Re: Wahoo Anew
The left ones ear design makes him look like a bat, which automaticaly makes him "cool" (you know, as in suposed to be). And we got enough "cool" video game protagonists as is it. It was Klonoas cuteness that made people like him in the first place, and Namco already made the mistake of redesigning him to be less so in Klona 2. Don't go further down that road Namco, keep Klonoa cute 'n cuddly-wuddly-duddly.

Re: Wahoo Anew
They're sticking with the original design. I might actually pick this up.
