The beautiful mystery fan comic of the ninties
So I was reading through Koosh Koosh's Sonic CD fan comic, reveling in its quality when all of a sudden it hit me. Koosh Koosh's adaptation is not the only fan endeavor devoid of archie characters I have read. When I was a bit younger (maybe 6 or 7 years ago) I remember discovering this beautifully drawn, sega sonic inspired adaptation of Sonic 3 and the Death egg saga.
Hungry to confirm whether or not this fan comic was as great as I remembered, I rushed with google at my side to track it down. Nothing. Not a peep. It seems that in today's day and age, the only sonic fan comics online are terribly rendered orgies starring shadow and silver. Its likely that the work in question may no longer reside in the bowels of the internet at all. It could be that not a single fan had the foresight to save each and every lovingly crafted page for archival purposes. Here's hoping that's not the case.
So does anyone remember the comic I'm talking about? Or better yet, does anyone have it?
Or was it all a dream?

I don't know what you're talking about but there was a Sonic 2 fan comic by Bumlor and some girl he knew called The Sonic Ideal that I quite enjoyed. I don't think they ever finished all of it though. It was years ago.

Haven't read it.
I do recall reading a nicely drawn SEGASonic comic called "The Sonic Ideal" by Abigail Ryder. It featured Sonic and Tails racing in Green Hill, then meeting Robotnik. It was never finished, but I think the intention was to bring in the Death Egg at some point.
No, I dont have it, and I dont know where to find it.. which makes this reply pretty pointless. Sorry.
Edit: Uh yeah, What 'Holic said.

On the topic of decent fan-comics, I stumbled across a Sonic Adventure adaptation many years back, by a spanish artist. It's in black and white, but the artwork is pretty nice.

No, this is it. I guess the death egg was only alluded to. Looking up Ryder's website and deviantart wasn't very inspiring. Maybe my under developed brain at the time couldn't measure quality anyway. Still can't find the comic though!!!cjmcray wrote:Haven't read it.

Huh, I remember coming across this five or six years ago. The way that Sonic's personality was portrayed had me chuckling at several of the scenes. I'm surprised that the artist still hasn't made any progress since the last time I've read that fan comic.cjmcray wrote:On the topic of decent fan-comics, I stumbled across a Sonic Adventure adaptation many years back, by a spanish artist. Man these things as a rule NEVER get finished. I'm impressed that he managed to go even half as far as he did with it.Oompa Star wrote:Huh, I remember coming across this five or six years ago. Re: The beautiful mystery fan comic of the ninties
I used to read a lot of Sonic fan comics, actually. Years ago, there were a ton of good ones. I'm pretty sure the current author for the Archie series used to draw one as well.
Anyway, here's what you've been looking for, Rappy:
Sonic 3 & Knuckles: http://worryfox.deviantart.com (it's Abby's old deviantART site)
The Sonic Ideal: http://tails.kicks-ass.net
The second site you have to register to view anything, but once you do, go to the navigation column on the left, click "Comics," scroll down, and then click "Fan Comics - Clean" (emphasis on the "Clean"). Abby's style has always been an inspiration for me. I've watched her stuff for a few years now, included her non-Sonic-related works.
Now I'm going to go bask in my usefulness.

I tried to make a fan comic once, years ago! It's really terrible and incredibly embarrassing.

And as a general rule of thumb, every time you read "uncle", it really meant "dude" or "guy".
Also, NiGHTS' one should obviously be something like The Fucked up Kids.
I also wonder what has been of Eva as of recently.

Yeah, I remember the last thing I saw of her was some SA2 comic, about Sonic's birthday, and the introduction of Shadow and Rouge.Isuka wrote:Fix'd.Radrappy wrote:Man these things as a rule NEVER get finished. I'm impressed that she managed to go even half as far as she did with it.
