I don't know why [img] tags are disabled, but

I assume the name of the game was Sonic World Adventure, but the western market needlessly changed it to enphasize the werehog mechanic, much like they changed Riders 2's subtitle to Zero Gravity. Zelda: Twilight Princess doesn't mention any wolves in its title.

Sonic 06 in its alpha stage looked better than Sonic 06 in its released form! That's really not a tough challenge to beat.

What kind of fucked up logic is that? Do you buy games for their covers? Here, save a few thousand bucks!

Just ignore Dasher, he's a moron who thinks complaining about stuff makes him cool, but he's too moronic to chose anything that actually matters to bitch about.

Why does that Sega rep look like Gabe Newell?

Also I'd totally buy one of those T-shirts of Mega Man 9's faux boxart, so I guess we both have our own ambitions?

Sonic World Adventure was the production name for it. The game will still be called Unleashed. AAUK said so and he works for SEGA.

At least, it was something in that wording. *sweatdrop*
Weird. That makes me think this game's original angle was just going to be about Sonic traveling the world with the werewolf concept added later in development, but I'm probably looking too far into it at that point.

Seeing it in costume form makes it look almost like Taz from Looney Tunes. I suddenly like it more now. I'd even go as far as to say I wish it was its own character, instead of a bastardization of Sonic.

You don't get liberty in Japan, you only get liberty in America. You look pretty Japanese to me.

I just saw that video. Godammit. Now I think the Werehog looks cool. Two things that I'm very happy about: Sonic actually turning into a ball when he jumps and the Werehog running in all fours. Awesome.

Watching all the new media, I'll have to say that I really do enjoy the treatment of the Werehog stuff. I still don't think it's a stellar idea, but at least the design isn't bad and it doesn't feel total angst in nature. It does have more of the Taz treatment with all the stretchyness going on(didn't expect the Ristar arms at all). Even the demon guys he's fighting are cartoony. Not looking forward to that dragon-god thing we saw a long while back being the final boss though, since the CG in the trailer gives a good sense of Robotnick taking the helm again finally.

Being the animation geek that I am, I got hold of an HD version of the trailer and tried my best to see the Eggman chuckle frame-by-frame. It's pretty intense. Hilarious to see that Sonic run from the robot arm was ripped directly from a Sonic X intro, but really, it's all top notch work.

Is there a downloadable link for the HD trailer or whatever?

You never know.. Sonic and WereSonic could split into two beings at the end, both 'curing' Sonic, and also giving the franchise yet another character to milk.

I was skeptical when it was first announced, given Sonic Team's track record lately, but the E3 trailer is getting me excited for the game's release. (Unfortunately i'm going to have to settle for the Ps2 port since i cant afford a new console.) Im trying not to set my expectations too high, becuase this IS Sonic Team we are talking about here.

Looking at some of the recent posts made me realize how so many people got used to the concept of Shadow carrying around an Uzi and such stuff.
And the fact that this already leaked kaijuu doesn't show up in the E3 trailer doesn't mean that it won't appear in the game proper.

I still think it's incredibly stupid and sort of cringe whenever I see it, but so many other issues have arisen since then that it's become a moot point.

Yes, cartoony is key. They've really nailed the delivery of this otherwise undesirable concept with the sort of laid back, kid-like charm exuded by the preview. I never played StH '06 (except for the Xbox Live demo), but one of my hangups was that it seemed to take a far-fetched concept so seriously.

And speaking of Shadow the Hedgehog, the whole concept behind that probably could've been saved if they had approached it in a goofier, less pretentious manner like they're going for here. But back then, Sonic games weren't the laughingstock they are now so it still probably would've seen some backlash. Whatever the case, this game's style seems to work for the series, as opposed to against it.

Whoa slow down there. All we've seen is a promo and some gameplay. Don't be so quick to claim they've handled this with complete grace until we've actually seen the approach taken in the game as opposed to a trailer. That blink 182 song and mystery kaiju still suggest that this is just another Sonic Team flub.

No. It was a terrible idea. Sure, you can make a terrible idea work if you give it to a genius, but the idea will still be terrible.

Oh yeah, all my comments are only in reference to the trailer. I figure I might as well enjoy what I can of this game now, before the holidays roll around and Sega presents yet another half-baked trainwreck. If only their games were even half as good as their trailers...

It was a stupid idea in the context of the series at that point, but if given some sort of bizarre, Conker's Bad Fur Day meets Looney Tunes twist with cartoon violence, tongue-in-cheek absurdity, and a sort of sarcastic bravado in its delivery, the whole thing probably could've been amusing, and even mildly entertaining. I think delivery can salvage content for most ideas, and it helps if the delivery doesn't take the content so seriously.

But yeah, the delivery for Shadow was whack, and my dreams of a clever parody of the Sonic series featuring guns and aliens will just have to wait. :\

His avatar is somewhat ahead of the time though, seeing as it pretty well predicts Sonic and the Black Knight.
