Does anything else really need to be said (other than the usual mantra of "OMFG")?

Re: Let's do the time warp again
Now you PALanders will finally be able to play this awesome game without the use of an emulator, and it is portable too!
Supposedly, this is an enhanced port so I'm guessing that there will be the animated cutscenes from the PS version plus possible other bonuses.

But it is Chrono Trigger! Also, I don't mind S-E's ports too much considering a) some of those ports are games that haven't been released in the West, and/or are enhanced in some way (see FF3, FF4, the DQ 4-6), b) there are still releasing original stuff also(TWENY, Sigma Harmonic, the KH portables, etc.)Segaholic2 wrote:Another port on the DS. The american countdown site, posted for no reason other than simple reassure that it won't be an import. Yet another game that has me wondering why it's coming to DS instead of VC.

Re: Let's do the time warp again
To make money by selling it for $35 than $8 on the VC. The same reason no other Square RPGs are on the Virtual Console.
I hate modern-day Square-Enix.

Re: Let's do the time warp again
Not really interested unless there's a crapload of new content added to the game. Like a bunch more endings or a new time period. I want "Modern Day" added instead of skipping from medieval times straight to the year 4000 or whatever.

I thought the time Crono is from was Modern Day? Just because they live under a monarchy and their teleporter doesn't have all the quirks worked out of it yet doesn't mean they're living in the middle ages!

We got the port for it on the PSX, I'm sure of it. Although a few searches seem to prove me wrong...Ngangbius wrote:Now you PALanders will finally be able to play this awesome game without the use of an emulator
Also, call me when we finally see Chrono Cross getting a modern release. I never cared for Trigger.

They use swords and live in cobblestone castles. Seems more Steam-punk turn of the century to me. 1900s.I thought the time Crono is from was Modern Day? Re: Let's do the time warp again
Since I plan on getting a modded SNES in the near future (60hz here I come!), was it Chrono Trigger that was one of the two games that wouldn't work when imported? The other one was Super Mario RPG, that I know.

Well, it was the modern times in their universe--different from ours. Think of it like Lyra's world from the His Dark Materials trilogy.
Yep, I've heard that Square denied PAL regions the CT port in Final Fantasy Chronicles, bringing them only FFIV.One Classy Bloke wrote:We got the port for it on the PSX, I'm sure of it. Although a few searches seem to prove me wrong...
I'm going to guess you played Cross before Trigger, correct? Also, call me when we finally see Chrono Cross getting a modern release. I never cared for Trigger.

Chrono Trigger is the best JRPG ever made. It's like Dragon Ball + Back to the Future + Final Fantasy + Doctor Who.
I wish Square would remake Live a Live as a Chrono Trigger game and rewrite the plot to reflect that. It'd be perfect.

Looks like the latest Shonen JUMP's screenshots confirm that it's a straight-up port of the original SNES game.

It may lose some vertical resolution, but that's about it.
Though I'd stick to the ROM and the possibility to play it at 1280 × 1024 with hq4x, advanced sound interpolation and a low-pass filter, coupled with a comfy 360 controller, but that's just me.

Having done basically this, I can say for a fact that it pretty much kicks all kinds of ass.Isuka wrote:It may lose some vertical resolution, but that's about it.
