Sounds worse than Shenmue: The Movie. Which was'nt to bad, but you might as well play the game instead. Plus, this movies only 6 minutes?

It was for <a href="http://www.newfestival.org/cgi-bin/iowa ... ilm=704">a film fest</a>, which is why it's so short.

Surely the whole thing is illegal though? I can't imagine Sega giving the go ahead to someone making a Shenmue movie about Ryo looking for some hot sailors...mind you they've done a lot of stupid crap lately so i shouldn't be surprised...

Unless you use someone else's characters to help parody something else. Then the people that own those characters can rape you.

But do parody laws cover lifting the actual visuals or audio directly from the source material? I'm pretty sure they don't.

Who knows, but the festival was in june, so they haven't gotten in trouble yet. By the way, was I the only one who didn't realize it was a gay movie until I clicked the second link?

I'm pretty sure that six minutes of source material from a huge game like Shenmue isn't enough to violate copyright anyway, parody or not.

Do people who make AMVs get sued? I think not.
Whether they're selling it or not.

I think it's more likely that it does violate copyright law, but that no one cares. ;)
