I'm dizzy.
WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING
AM I TRAPPED IN A SURREAL MIRROR WORLD OR SOMETHING?!
LEFT IS RIGHT, RIGHT IS LEFT, THE WORLD IS UPSIDE-DOWN!

Re: I'm dizzy.
I can only assume you are speaking of the fact that the avatars and user information have finally been moved back to the left side of the screen. Of course I had finally become accustom to everything being on the right, so for now I am back where I started.

I didn't even notice until you pointed it out. But it feels so right to be on the left again.

Seriously. It took me a whole half-minute before I realized something was off, and now I'm just sort of disoriented.
Mabye we'll get the classic GHZ palette back soon! :awesome:

I was confused for a moment, and then I realized that my earlier statement of "I don't care whether it's on the right or left" was wrong. Way better on the left.

Looks like my comment in the 11 years thread in the site updates had a (slight) postive outcome after all. Now if only the "among other things" will be fixed as well.

Gah, now my avatar doesn't laugh at my posts...
Also, it seems like they are taking up a bit too much space.

Finally.
We just need that old "The GHZ" logo back on the top of the forum. That "phpBB creating communities" is kind of an eyesore.

I just noticed that the avatars now partially cover that diagonal blue bar that tells you if a person is online.

Re: I'm dizzy.
I still think we need to get the whole thing into a nice, clean table. Cuckoo sent me a sample page where the whole shebang is tucked nicely into a table about 800 pixels wide and it looks delightfully clean and trim. Especially for those of us with larger screen resolutions.

Know what else is clean and (a) trim?
Erm, anyway, thanks to NT or Gibbon or whoever the fuck did this.

Re: I'm dizzy.
I've noticed phpBB doesn't use tables, it uses divs. All Holic has to do is edit the #wrap class in the CSS. I'd suggest making Holic copy and paste this:
#wrap {
padding: 0 20px;
min-width: 600px;
max-width: 960px;
margin: 0 auto 0 auto;
}
#wrap {
padding: 0 20px;
min-width: 600px;
max-width: 960px;
margin: 0 auto 0 auto;
}

Re: I'm dizzy.
Also, I hear Holic hates how wide the profiles are, and that's easily fixable by changing the width attribute in the .postprofile class.

Re: I'm dizzy.
A lot of the point of putting everything on the left, though, was to put the avatars directly next to the text, no? And right now there's still that gap...
Alternatively, instead of fixed width, perhaps you could right-align all the profile stuff?

Sorry GHZ, looks like the GHZ forum is always going to be the width of whatever resolution your computer is. Better throw your rocks at Holic.

It should look better on resolutions 1024x768 or larger. If you're on anything smaller then it's your own God damn fault things don't look right.

Re: I'm dizzy.
I actually pretty strongly disagree with that. With widths too wide, it makes it difficult to follow text from one line to the next, plus it looks obese and busy. It's easier and more natural (and pleasant) to read text when it's about the width of a normal printed page. Plus, the white space on the sides gives it a very clean, professional look. I guarantee you will find no halfway decent looking site anywhere on the internet that forces the reader to wade through loads of text without cropping it into a decent table.I hate fixed width even more.
I strongly urge you to try it just for a week or so.

My resolution is probably wider than anybody else's and I have no problem with it.

Re: I'm dizzy.
Yes, but your eyes are all wide and slitty. For those of us of fairer race, it looks cluttered!
Dude, I'm telling you, just try it for a few days.

Re: I'm dizzy.
I'm going to have to agree with GG!. Long lines of sentences spanning a long amount of width just looks ugly. There's a reason why many websites don't do that and why large books generally have columns when it has an extremely wealthy amount of text.
For those who want to see what a forum looks like with a fixed width, check out http://www.doublemole.com/forum , and don't bother registering because no one's ever gonna post there and I intend to delete it eventually.

Re: I'm dizzy.
Eh, although I swear I was repulsed by the width of the avatar bar earlier, looking at it now I really can't complain. I mean, I really can't - everything stretches out quite nicely.
For the record, I use 1680x1050 as a resolution, which is probably wider than most of you.
