Re: "Sonic Chronicles" trademarked by Sega
Did they even read these before putting them up? "Bluchaos" can't even be said smoothly. At least the others sound like real words, however retarded most of them are.
I voted for Zoah since I was told to, but I think Gravitus sounds better since it seems like the most realistic name. The race of aliens look like absolute shite though. I couldn't really care what they call them if they're gonig to be so generic and bad looking for a Sonic game.

These aliens reminds me of the Sonic X "in Space" season aliens when there were in their armor.

In an unrelated remark, I only just now noticed, after reading the posts immediately above, that Dasher and Arcade are two different posters.

Yeah, but it's never been done well.Dasher wrote:Really, Sonic in space has been overdone.
Unless you count the Death Egg.
And the Death Egg, that second time.
Or a third of the ARK.
...shit.

sonic has been to space, he's been back and forward in time, what he needs to do in this game is go into different dimensions.

Dude, that had to have been sarcasm. I can't possibly think of anyone who would wish parallel universes into a saga that was free of such filth.

This is what's truly necessary in a Sonic game. It's actually, we think, going to revitalize the love of the Sonic friends, especially Big the Cat.

Re: "Sonic Chronicles" trademarked by Sega
There are two kinds of people who hate Big: those who didn't like the fishing (who shouldn't be bitching since fishing is obviously not something they're going to implement here), and those who hate him as a character, who deserve the rounds of clones we've been getting. Big is the only attempt they've ever made at making some kind of counterpoint against Sonic; a slow, rotund pacifist who can be played for some pretty sharp comic relief. Everyone has some special superpower of some sort, and Big just had a little bit of self-learned skill.
And furthermore, anyone who says Sonic needs to be stripped of any characters but Sonic (such as the author of above article) needs to be beaten in the skull with Sonics 2, 3 & Knuckles until either the overgeneralization center of his brain stops functioning or he becomes aware of it enough to leave journalism. It's just such a ludicrous statement, especially since plot plays a more and more significant role in each passing game. (Forget the overkill of the 3D years.) If Sonic 1 had a plot, that final boss (stupidly easy as it may have been) would have been a lot more intense (especially with that music. woo!) And carrying a plot with one protagonist and one villain is just an unworthy uphill battle. And Jesus, Tails and Knuckles are almost as iconic as Sonic is. (Oh, wait, shit. Should I rephrase it? Should I...? Nah.) Amy and Shadow are popular punching bags, but they're fixtures. And like I said, if you're going to have a plot-heavy Sonic game, you either need someone new [shudder] to balance the crew out, or you need Big. The fact BioWare not only realized his potential to do so but emphasized him probably means they know how to make this dynamic between the characters work. Because there are some almost-realized characters and some vague archetypes on the Sonic posse, and I'm hoping this game will carve out some unique niches for them and establish an interesting cast once again.
Shame that even if that happened, Sega would probably just scrap everything and crank out Heroes 2.

I actually liked Big. I think I'm the only person. o.o Well, I liked him in SA1, at least.... I don't really remember what he was like in games after that. (Was he even in stuff other than Heros with more than a cameo?)

Hence why I thought Samurai Jack sucked so much despite all the acclaim for it. It was the best-animated but most insipidly boring show I've ever seen. And carrying a plot with one protagonist and one villain is just an unworthy uphill battle.

Unlockable character in Sonic Shuffle. But I don't think he's worth all the pain of "playing" it.Xyton wrote:I actually liked Big. Big the Cat has a really great design... probably the best of all of the "new", post-genesis Sonic characters.
He also has an annoying personality coupled with terrible voice acting... but then, so do all the other characters, including Sonic. So I'm not going to hold that against him.

Re: "Sonic Chronicles" trademarked by Sega
The issue with Big is that the voice didn't simply make him sound silly just like all the other characters. While Big's Japanese voiceover makes him sound relaxed and simple-minded, his English acting turns him into a hateful retard which deserves to be shot in the head whenever he makes a sound. He's the only character with a real personality change between dubs, save for maybe Rouge in Shadow the Hedgehog. I've never had the chance to play the game with japanese dialogue, but I'd assume she doesn't sound like a bored 30 year-old.
