i can has master system on wii?

More likely than you think.

They debut on the JPN Virtual Console in February at 500 WiiPoints a pop (with an extra 100 tacked on for "licensing" or something like that). No word yet on when NTSC / PAL regions get out share, but I bet it'll be soon.

I prefer the Genesis version of Fist of the North Star, but Fantasy Zone is awesome.

I hope they come around to adding Phantasy Star, Ys Vanished Omens, and some Alex Kidd and Wonderboy.
Could be fun.

500 - 600 points? Haha, you can often get the the original games complete with case and manual for that price on ebay.
Though since I boycott the VC for being far too expensive (especially since those are just the very ROMs of the game you can get on the internet for free), and because I as a collector want to own the original games with cases/manual and play them on their original consoles I don't care anyway. Still, such a rip-off is quite lol.

You're right... stealing IS a lot cheaper than buying! lolz

Seriously, though, the VC is definitely over-priced compared to most other commercial retro-gaming options -- Gametap, disc compilations, even XBLA. It's like everything in there costs two dollars more than it should. I know Nintendo is selling a lot of these titles already, but if the prices were a bit lower I know I would have bought a bunch more games by now and I bet others would have too.

I’m a Master System fan, heck my first videogame console ever was a Master system (And it still works). But we are talking about 8 bits games from more than 20 years ago; they should offer 5 games for 600 points, and not do such a scam to players. You can find a lot free games online that look better than Master system games, and they want people to pay that much?.

I'll take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to say that I agree with Arcade.
It's not as much stealing a hamburger when it's already halfway rotten, isn't it?

Also, Japan technically is part of the NTSC region. We should wait for a NTSC U/C release.

Virtual Console games are insanely overpriced. It's not like there's development or distribution costs, that's all pure profit. There's no excuse in the world to sell an NES game for more than about a buck.

I realize this is also just a desire to get games for less, but it strikes me they ought to give you a few hundred Wii Points with every game you purchase (like the Japanese DC games that came with points to use on Sega-Direct or whatever). Obviously the trick would be to give you just enough to not be able to buy anything with just one. Plus it's like hey, buy a Wii game and get a free VC title of your choice. All of a sudden that sounds like an excellent deal.

I can think of lots of other ways for Nintendo to give us free things but I suppose they aren't really looking for that sort of idea.

Don't you guys get the whole "Club Nintendo" thing over there? I set up my account today and started registering my VIP codes from inside all my old games. It used to be that you used your accumulated "stars" to purchase sub-standard merchandise, but they've recently set up a system to convert them to Wii points. It's just a shame that they only seem to have 100-point cards at the moment, which is, at 400 stars a card, a waste of my fucking time. I think 4000 stars equals 2000 points, so when they get more in I'll snap that shit up. Really, all I want is the Internet Channel and Mario 64.

It's not free here anymore either! It's been $5 to download it since June.

Or 4000 stars = 1000 points, I'm not sure. Not like it matters, the exchange rate is laughable any way. You'd need 4 or 8 new games just to buy an NES game.
I recently spent most of my stars (I've been collecting since the GBA and GC) on an real life rack from the Star Catalogue; earlier I also got some soundtrack CDs from there and a Pokémon Emerald guide book. I really suggest you spend your stars on the goodies Nintendo has to offer there, you definitely get more (and actual) value for them than if you use them to buy ROMs.

Pfft, we amerifags should BE so lucky. All we ever get is the odd random-colored stylus for registering a DS game or two.

IIRC, the last time USA got anything semi-decent by way of a bonus was that Zelda: Collector's Edition disc a few years back.

I had this sinking feeling they were going to do a terrible exchange rate when they announced it, and on this rare occassion I was right! Many months of purchases and saving lead to the point I can only buy a NES game? I mean, come on, that's a joke.

Still, saying that, I must say I've bought quite a few games off there, despite the fact I could probably get them cheaper if I wasn't lazy and went off to look for them. Oh, and I got gifted "Punch-out!!" a small while back for no real reason, so I'm not going to complain... Except maybe the time I realised you got more points for your cash if you didn't buy the points cards and instead bought online. The cost was only a tiny bit more, but it still annoyed me.

Here's a bonus: how about getting Brawl, if not every game released, several months before us?

Yeah, but the same correlation could be made by sustituting Brawl with almost every other game ever made, ever.

I keed, I keed--but srsly, we still have to wait until after Japan gets it. If anything, we should aim our collective hatred at THEM.

No, no, we really shouldn't. You get games about two weeks-a month after their japanese release. We get them 2-4 months later. Not the same thing.

In some cases, they'll get them two to four weeks before their Japanese release.

But yeah, this discussion is retarded.

We do (or did) have something like this Club Nintendo. Back in 05 I registered my GC games and got myself a free Metroid Prime 2 guide. It may have been related to Nintendo Power, though.
