Their catering seems to extend to showing Samus' boobies and popping in Ridley in as a playable character - if we're even lucky enough to see the latter.

Well, I can swallow my complaints if they DO include Ridley as playable, but I just have this horrible feeling that he's only going to be a boss character, a la Petey Pirhana.

Considering he's got his own theme music and is mentioned in nearly every Metroid update (usually along the lines of "Hey, Japanese gamers! Remember that Ridley guy? Wasn't he cool"?) and was one of the most asked for villain characters, I suspect he'll be both a boss and playable - like Wario and Bowser (and possibly King Dedede, Gannondorf, and Mewtwo as well).

If they wanted a character to just appear as a boss, what about Kraid? He's huge! Don't no one love Kraid no mo?

Well, they had him as a background...thing...in Melee, so maybe they'll have Ridley playable and use Kraid as a boss-only character.

SO. Today's update is about Ike's Final Smash, called "Great Aether".

It's a powered-up, firey version of his normal Aether move.

...yeah.

EDIT: Since I'm not going to risk my health over a TriplPost, I'll edit this one to mention this: in about a month, Capcom of Japan will be holding a special event to celebrate MegaMan's 20th Anniversary. Rumors are growing that one of the announcements to be revealed at this event would be to have a Capcom-based character (presumably MegaMan) confirmed as a playable character in Brawl.

News, not from the blog ("How to Taunt" was tonight's update. Rilly), but from another source:

http://rockmansynergy.com/commons/index ... &tb=1&pb=1

Looks like Mega Man is prolly in. Not exactly a shock, considering, but it will be nice to see the three platforming titans of the 8 and 16 bit era duke it out.

Yeah, that's...pretty much what I said before.

O hay, looks like I (and maybe a few other people, can't remember) was right about this move being a taunt after all.

Its nice to see his legs with speed blur again, and this move looks alot like the 8 shaped Sonic CD dash. you can clearly see the 8 shape in this pic.

too me that dash was the coolest Move Sonic has ever pulled in classic era, so Im thrilled he pulled it off, and it looks great.

Every time I see a piece of Sonic here looking great, I have to slap and remind myself that he's just a fraction of Brawl, and that this isn't a platformer.

I love the way the Smash Bros. Sonic model moves his browline to make different facial expressions.

Wow, it does look like the Peel-Out. One of the reasons I wanted to play Sonic CD was to see that move in motion (stupid reason for wanting to play a hard to find game, I know).

I also appreciate the fact that Link's N64 taunt is back. It was more badass than that gay pretty boy taunt from Melee.

Glad to see that you can assign your own text to the taunt speech bubbles, as opposed to getting stuck with cheesy pre-set messages à la ChuChu Rocket. Better yet, this provides a decent alternative to an alias for those who aren't comfortable with anonymity and don't feel like identifying themselves through interpretive dance; just pin your nick to one of your taunts and pose at the beginning of a fight.

Suddenly, "FUCK BITCH" and "DICK BALLS"

DICK BALLS isn't really my style of taunt. I wonder if "You're going down both faster and harder than the Vietnamese hooker your mother enjoyed the company of last night (yes, your mother swings that way)" would fit.

PS - It would appear not. Maybe "Your mom bangs whores; you will lose" has a shot.

PPS -

Dante can't be in it. The rule is that the character has to have appeared on a Nintendo system at least once. Dante's never been on any Nintendo system ever.

This is true. And it's also one of the reasons I laugh at everyone who wants Master Chief or Cloud in the game (I even saw a suggestion for a Weighted Companion Cube Assist Trophy).

Cloud could feasibly be in it, actually; he was in that GBA Kingdom Hearts thing, after all.

Fine, so it's a small cameo, but it's technically enough to qualify - and Cloud would be one helluva megaton.

Yeah, and a small cameo in one GBA game that was a spinoff of a series that has its' home on the PS2 is about as barebones as a character can get in terms of qualifications.

Let's face it--megaton Cloud may be, but there are literally DOZENS of other third-party characters that are better qlauified than him.

Personally, I'm hoping against hope that the "MegaMan for Brawl" rumors are true.

Assist throphies of Protoman and Bass would be nice!

If we did get a Square character, it'd actually probably be a Chocobo or a Moogle, since those are the series mascots. But I'm sure a lot of people would bitch about their favorite bishounen not making it in, which means that the whole thing is not worth the trouble in the first place.

If a Square character gets in, it should be Geno or a Moogle riding a Chocobo.

Either way I'd probably still be fairly indifferent if they made it in.

Yeah, I could see a Moogle riding a Chocobo as the Square rep. Boy, won't the fangirls and boys flip? "WHERE ARE MY BISHES!?! I WANT SEPHIROTH!"

Taunt messages are friends-only.

Did you really think Nintendo would let you actually input any old text to other people?

I wouldn't be surprised if it's not quite as anonymous as he makes it sound, though. I'd suspect showing the other player's names after the match, if not before/during it. Then again the whole thing is pretty crazy to begin with so maybe not.
