There's an extra music update on the Japanese site today that's not on the other sites. It's part of the Kirby: Final Smash update so it's probably from a Kirby game.

Actually, I've heard it was from some random cooking game never released outside the US they thought would be appropriate to play for Kirby's FS.

Oh dear lord. Someone suggested something horrible to me. What if Sonic is in Smash Bros 3 as a playable character but you need a save file from Mario and Sonic Olympics on your Wii to unlock him? It's the sort of greedy move Sega would wholeheartedly agree to.

14:24: Smash Bros. has been delayed in Japan until January 24, 2008.

Nintendo shows a new trailer. Sonic is going to be a playable character! The trailer shows him transforming into Super Sonic.

The game will include online fights. In addition, it will have online cooperative play of some form.

Fucking hell! I'd given up any hope of Sonic actually appearing in this. This is certainly a nice surprise. Although this now makes Mario & Sonic at the Olympic games a lot less appealing.

They've simultaneously made Brawl the best game ever and M&S at the Olympics the most pointless game ever in one go.

I loved the use of Live and Learn. Its little touches like that that make you realise how Nintendo always strives to reach out to fans by doing the little things right, while in comparison Sega does whatever will make a quick buck.

I'm beginning to suspect that for Sonic to be in Brawl, Sega asked Nintendo to use Mario in a shitty Olympic tie-in game as part of the deal.

Amazing! Nintendo may have actually made me care about Sonic again.

Sonic in Subspace could be the best Sonic platformer for a home console in years.

All the other characters' sidekicks are (probably) appearing, so there's a fair chance, right?

(I also recall someone here saying there would be two more 3rd party characters, in addition to Snake.)

Maybe they could all show up in his Final Smash, aptly named "The Power Of Friendsh--uh, I mean, Hundreds Of Pointless Characters".

Other than that, and thanks to holic's genius, we can screw the Olympics. And that ugly game too.
