I have to admit/adimit that I hated the ranking system, but seriously, I like to explore the Knuckles/Rouge stages. Many people hate them because they're in a hurry to move on or because of the ranking system in them. Here's a tip taken from the movie "The In-laws":
"Relax! Enjoy the path, look at the flowers..."

I actually really liked the Tails/Eggman shooting levels. E-102's game was essentially improved, the control was tightened, and beyond trying to fight the horrible Artificial Chaos enemies, I can't remember one time where I was seriously, horribly irritated (unlike the Knux/Rouge levels).
If Sonic Team had only incorporated the downloaded events directly onto the CD (Halloween, Christmas, et al) then I believe the Adventure fields would have been even better. You folks have seen the previous screenshots of SA, right? Where the civilians are going to the bank, et al? It'd be nice if Station Square had all of that in there, too.
And as I said, I liked the Tails/Eggman levels. The Sonic/Shadow levels were good fun, though they were all too often simply a series of dash pads over bottomless pits. Rouge/Knuckles levels (with the exception of Wild Canyon, Dry Valley, and Pumpkin Hill) have all been expanded way too much and turned into a serious exercise in frustration (particularly Mad Space). All in all, SA2 is fun, but I still believe SA1 > SA2.
So they never call it by any specific name, then? Heh.big smile wrote:The characters don’t refer to the planet as Earth either; they just call it ‘the ground’.
Then how do you explain Shadow's victory over Sonic in the Dark side story? Did he pop a Senzu bean (don't kill me) and start kicking Shadow's ass from the ground? At least you SEE Eggman stealing the Emerald in the Hero side story. It explains why you see him with it in the Dark side story. Sonic & Shadow's battle wasn't as clearly finalized.Soundbreaker wrote:1st question: Sonic did defeat Shadow. During the FinalHazard fight, you can see that the cannon is destroyed.

I'm pretty sure the Dark and Hero stories were supposed to be seen as two alternate storylines. Regardless of who actually won, they both lead to the final stage.aso wrote:Then how do you explain Shadow's victory over Sonic in the Dark side story?...Sonic & Shadow's battle wasn't as clearly finalized.

I actually preferred E102s levels to the shooting levels in SA2. Replenishing the ticking timeclock forced you to try to shoot more efficiently and try to make combos. Without the clock, there's really nothing FORCING you to do anything other than button mash your whole way through. Yes, there is the score motive, but you know... I didn't care about my score in Sonic 1 and I still don't care about it now.
The hunting levels in SA2 were an improvement, but not enough of one to justify increasing their share of the game to an entire third. The Knuckles gameplay in SA1 sucked more, but on the other hand... there was so much less of it. I guess I'd rather have a game that was mostly good, but with a few crappy portions, than a game that is consistently mediocre the whole way through. I absolutely hated the Knuckles and Big portions of SA1, but I thoroughly enjoyed the rest. That's why it's my favourite of the two.

Super mega ultimate Xbox game that will apparently be the super awesomest after it's released following a four year development time.
It's also an RPG.
It'll probably suck balls.

I'm not an Xbox person either... but the game has received an immense amount of hype. It's almost impossible to avoid word of it if you lurk on GameFAQs or IGN (which I still do, on occassion).
It reminds me of Daikatana. It was delayed for about four years on the PC, and received so much hype that the game that was finally released failed to match up to any of it. Since then, John Romero (who took full figurehead status for the project) has completely disappeared, doing some sort of video game that no one gives a damn about.

You're not kidding:BlazeHedgehog wrote:The thing is, I enjoyed the Adventure Fields for one reason: Wide-open spaces. It gave me space to run around, to be free. It gave me a field to cut loose in. It's what I had always wanted in 3D Sonic, from day 1: space to breathe in. Not cramped little runways.

Funny, I didn't even think it was possible for Sonic to get up there. I actually ended up there on accident.

Yeah, it's always neat getting characters up or into those kinds of points, or glitching them into stages they shouldn't be in at all. Something SA2 is missing unless you use PAR codes. I kinda lost interest in video games, I've found myself kind of forcing myself to play through some of them lately. I'll only play for an hour or two at a time also. However, other games will just suck me right in for like 8 hours. Most games are the hour at a time type that take me forever to beat.
Also I am definately looking forward to Fable, I probably won't buy it right away though. It will be a huge distraction I imagine, once I get it.

I don't know why, but I had the intense urge to take a clearer screenshot of that using SADX PC:Spazz wrote:You're not kidding:BlazeHedgehog wrote:The thing is, I enjoyed the Adventure Fields for one reason: Wide-open spaces. Wow that's great. Anyway, yeah, Fable-- I really have my hopes up over it. I think it still has the capacity to suck, but the movies look good, the previews are positive and Peter Molyneux is a decent guy (and not much of a John Romero).
What's really sad is how much I'm craving Halo 2 at the moment.

Halo 2 looks awesome, you don't have to feel bad about craving it. ;)
As for SA:DX PC, Segaholic, it is definitely the best way to play the game. Provided you have a decent enough machine, its the only place you're ever going to get to play the game at a solid 60 FPS and with a massive draw distance. :)

This whole topic reminded me of something I've been meaning to ask about SA2. There's a point in Final Rush that I've gazed at quizzically, but could never figure out.
It's in the middle of the level with all the small platforms and the vertical rails. Eventually, you get to a point with two Artificial Chaos Float Types (the fat ones). In front of the second one, there's a rail (if you go to the SA2 page in the Museum, it's the second pic for the stage). The only way I've gotten on this rail is killing this A.Chaos and jumping onto it from there: backtracking, basically. I'm wondering how you're supposed to get on it initially. I've taken the rail and gotten a few Item Boxes, but I've never been able to figure out if it's some sort of shortcut or something.
