LET ME SHOW U MY POKEYMANZ

Post by Yami CJMErl »

This is a bit late, I realize, but since the old Super Paper Mario topic had begun to deviate towards a Pokemon-ish nature, I thought I'd make one for those of us who bought Diamond and/or Pearl over the weekend, share what we have so far, friend codes, etc. etc.

PKMN Trainer: "CJMErl"

Friend Code: 3651 7048 0074

TEAM:
> Lv16 TURTWIG "Gaia"
> Lv18 KRICKETUNE "Vidler"
> Lv16 PACHIRISU "Twiggy"
> Lv16 SHELLOS "Sluggina"
> Lv16 PONYTA "Entei"
> Lv22 DRIFLOON "Annonay"

CURRENTLY: trying to obtain 2nd badge

In a bit of depressing/infuriating news, Prima's PKMN D/P guide was labeled "Vol. 1" because it's going the same route as Nintendo: waiting until LATE MAY to release post-game strategem and a "complete Pokedex". Personally, I would have hoped that Nintendo only did this injustice during the Gold/Siolver era, but I was wrong.

My brother just got it yesterday, along with a DS itself. The new music is kind of annoying.

You know what kicks ass? Pokemon sounds for the new ones aren't jumbled up Midi files, but rather digitized actual noises like crackling fire or birds or cats meowing.

Also, be prepared for the long-ass walk between the second and third Gyms. You go through like 3 towns and miles and miles of crap. Getting to the third Gym takes almost as much time as getting halfway through the original Red and Blue.

That is nice. Until you get to that one(two) skunk pokemon.

(Unless, of course, you're a fan of that type of humor)

If anyone actually wants my contact data PM me about it, otherwise I don't really want to slather it all over the net.

Does anyone else think Kricketune's cry sounds like a fiddler on crack?

One friend of mine from another forum actually thought it sounded like a laser charging--so he named his Kricketune "Shoop".

Sounds like you need to grow a sense of humor. :PR:

Also, it doesn't matter if you slather your contact data all over the internet, because friend codes only work if you both add each other to your lists. One-way adds don't do anything.

Consider me educated in the way of friend codes.

It's odd that I can laugh at jokes about dead babies but fart jokes leave me nonplussed. Maybe my sense of humor is just fucked up, I don't know.

Anyway then:

Diamond version
Burraki (Capital B, lowercase everything else. Not sure if the name actually matters as anything other then an identifier)
3136 3089 3850

Currently have in my team...
36 Roselia
25 Crobat
32 Gyarados
32 Monferno
34 Alakazam
... an egg.

Just got my fourth badge.

That out of the way, anyone else amused by the usage of modern slang in the game? Like "noob", "owned", and "a winner is you", though that last one isn't so much slang as it's much as memorable engrish...

I'm still scared of "Kinsey the Reporter" from the Jubilife TV station asking little boys to perform in front of a camera.
That is nice. Until you get to that one(two) skunk pokemon.
That skunk was the reason I bought Diamond. It's an exploding skunk that farts out fire. How can anyone not love that?

Anyways, I got the fourth badge today. I'm going to beat up the French ghost lady tomorrow. She looks so much like a drag queen.

One of the main translators, Douglas Dinsdale, is a member of the Something Awful Forums, hence all the net lingo. There are also multiple references to the SA website and community scattered throughout the game.

FIRE you say?

I change my mind. The skunks are awesome.

Also awesome. I wonder how many of them I'll actually notice/recognize and how many will slip past me like a dumbass.
