I would have to say that the Game Cube controller would be my personal favourite. It's so comfy, yet so creative. All of my PS2 fan boy friends think it looks wierd, least it's better than the PS2's perfectly symetrical controller. Only problem is that the D-pad is a bitch to reach- but when do you use that?

I hate to break this to you all, but the Xbox really is big. Of course, its primary aesthetic problem is, well, its blatant ugliness... that colour scheme is so 80s.
It's a pain how it and the GC don't really fit under TVs so well. Sony are the only ones who've got it right so far-- a sleek, flat, pragmatic design that you can actually put other things on top of. I want my electronic devices to do their job and do it quietly: I don't want them to be in a novelty banana shape with flashing LEDs on the top.

Now, I used to hate the Xbox, and the old Xbox controller. And then I played Halo.
Yeah, the old controller is pretty crappy, but it suffices if all you're going to play is Halo (Which, is probably what you'll be doing 99% of the time with your Xbox)...
My friend had a 16 player LAN, and I was forced to use one of the Controller Fatty's since the cracker didn't buy enough S's... After I few rounds, I got used to the old style one. I mean, it's still no where near comfortable or intuitive, but it gets the job done. Just don't try to play Soul Cali 2 on it.
The Controller S on the other hand, is quite nice. I still think the black and white buttons are a little awkwardly placed, but the D-Pad is what sold me on it-- The PS2's seperate button D-Pad is probably the worst thing to try a quatercircle on, and the Gamecube's is far to small to be of any use. Though I can manage playing Soul Cali 2 on a Cube pad, trying to do a complete flip into a 360 spin in SSX or even something as simple as a Shoryuken in CVS2 with it is near impossible.

I'd have to say that the controller of choice is something that grows on you. If you use say a mouse and keyboard for most of you're games you'll eventually get adjusted to it and see the pros over the cons of their functions.
I can't stand the Playstation controller. It just feels odd to me. But I haven't used it as much as a Gamecube or XBox controller (either one). I'm sure I'd get into it more after some time though.
Personally, my favorite is Gamecube's. The way it just shapes itself around the way your palm is, is just so natural. Meanwhile the PS/PS2's feels like the L and R buttons are sticking out way too far, and having two of those on each side... wow. But the XBox feels like a chunky Dreamcast controller. The S-Type and the F-Type (for Fatty) feel the same to me until I find that I have to use one of those annoying Gray and White buttons, then I have to adjust again...
Everyone should just buy DDR pads...

The Xbox Controller S is probably my current favorite of this generation. I love the feel of it. The d-pad is awesome. The analog buttons are great. The joysticks feel good and I like clicking them in. It has a nice, solid feel when you hold it... It doesn't feel like a piece of cheap plastic that could break if you threw it. On the other hand, the fat controller was definitely the worst model of this generation...
I'd have to say that I like the GameCube's controller second-best (the WaveBird is almost the greatest thing on this planet), and the PlayStation's is adequate. I don't hate it, but I don't particularly like it much. The separated d-pad sucks, and am I the only person on earth that still hates the action button's labels? Triangle? Circle? Square? Gay?

The Xbox didn't work after it got shot though.
My current favorite controller is the Xbox S. The regular one is ok, but the black and white buttons are hard to reach and the regular buttons are to close together. The Xbox S is like the PS2, but not insanely small. I hated the GameCube controller when I first got it, I felt like I was gonna break the damn thing. I eventually got use to it and I love the WaveBird, but only cause it is wireless. I still hate how the buttons sorta wrap around the A button.

No you are not the only one. Shapes instead of letters was the main reason why I couldn't get 'into the flow' with games like Parappa and UmJammer Lammy. I was just too used to the letters--simple and easy to memorize the placement than shapes. I also hate the seperated D-pad for reasons I will explain later in this post.Segaholic2 wrote: and the PlayStation's is adequate. I don't hate it, but I don't particularly like it much. Probably because the vast majority of the world is so used to it for obvious reasons. This is a shame since from what little time I experienced from the S-Controller, it felt hellava lot better than the Dual Shock. Unfortunately, Radio Shack only sells PSX/PS2 to USB controller converters making playing certain 16-bit emulated games a bit of a pain(analog just won't do). =(I don't see what all you fucks see in that crappy PS2 controller.
As for the Gamecube controller, it also feels much better in the hand than Dual Shock, but I have a beef with the D-Pad. It's not so much the issue of size(hey, it's the same size as GBA/SP D-pad), but it has more to do with the placement. It just seems far too low for my taste, making it uncomfortable to play SMC or MM Annerversary. I'm also not a fan of those clicky shoulder buttons. It's just not...natural somehow.

Yeah, my friend has one of those. They're really cool if you have Game Boy Player.Spazz wrote:Some of you may find some interest in this.
