Could an SatAM/Archie character work in a Sonic game?

I think the only reason nobody ever complains about Sonic the Comic's original characters is because nobody knows anything about them.

If they did, I think they'd be up there with SatAM characters in being reviled for being completely out of place within the Sonic universe, though for entirely different reasons. As strange as the SatAM characters seem today (and now tainted by the furries), I'd rather see them then just about a lot of the weirdness seen in StC.

You know, just reading this makes me realize that what could have been a GREAT stoner game was ruined because some dipshit said "Look, he's a blue hedgehog that runs insanely fast and collects rings. This game can't POSSIBLY survive on gameplay alone, no, we have to create a convoluted story that has a menagerie of the some of the dopiest characters known to man! IT'S THE ONLY WAY, DAMNIT, THE ONLY WAY!!!".

It's like giving Tetris a story. F*ck, it's like how they gave DOOM a story! I don't want love triangles in Sonic games, I just want to run around insanely fast collecting rings and jumping on bad guys to 80's hair metal. Is that too much to ask for?

Ditch the hair metal and we'll call it a deal.

The thing with StC original characters is that they don't take that much part of the story, and most of them are really based off stuff from the games, like those stupid animals in leather jackets.

But the main story really revolves around Sonic and the game characters. So there are no stories where "Johnny the Rabbit" is the main character, or Porkins or whatever that pig's called. One of the few issues I got has a surprisingly good story with the Chaotix fighting some Metal Sonics, and Nack is there, and he's a turncoat bastard just as he should bem he's even got a gun.

I’ve actually drawn a picture at one time of what Sally and Bunnie* may look SEGA-ized.

And yet, I don’t think it’s a good idea whatsoever.

Personally, I liked the SatAM series (I swear to god I’m not one of those creepy furries), however, I believe the elements of SatAM should stay where they are. In SatAM and … well I guess their bastardization, the Archie comics.

… Which I suppose brings me to my point. The Archie comics try to combine every aspect of Sonic into one big clusterfuck, and it sucks (not so much nowadays, Ian is actually capable of writing).

Trying to bring Sally into the SegaSonic verse (yeah, I refer it to that, as well, there’s a lot of different aspects of Sonic and it helps to prevent getting things mixed up) would probably be a disaster. As said earlier, everything about her would have to be changed to some degree or another.

Princess? Gotta go. We already have Elise and… possibly Blaze depending on if prescribe by Sonic Team’s Bizarro retcon. Don’t need another princess in the SEGAverse.

Design? Would have to change, and a lot of fanboys (and girls, but mostly fanboys), would be pissed on that alone.

Personality? Her personality works in the post apocalyptic SatAM world, where her bossy attitude is easily explained as necessity, but it wouldn’t work in the bright and by comparison cheery SegaSonic world. Thusly, that too would have to be changed.

By the end, like previously said, she probably wouldn’t even be the same character anymore other then name, which even then would probably be altered slightly.

*Can't find that particular image at the moment. It's... somewhere in the great abyss. I think Jamie may have it...

I feel they're made on an assembly line of sorts these days.

No, but it's not like they've got any convictions. Sonic is a whore to them. If they thought putting Sally, Bunnie and Antoine in the game would sell, they'd do it.

I am curious to see how a playable Antoine would work, though...

The majority of his game play would involve running away, screaming in French.

...

That may be an interesting game.

...

Not necessarily a Sonic game though.

Found Bunnie.

The robot parts look a little odd, but that's because when I'd drawn it I was trying to get the same sorta look as SEGA's designs regarding robots... ended up looking like she was the bastard child of E-101 and Emerl, but it sorta works.

The robot parts are sweet. The rabbit parts that kinda bug me. I love what you did to her hair.

Damn. Seeing those pieces of Sally and Bunnie actually makes me want them to show up in a Sonic game, just to see them rendered that way.

If it helps any, your avatar makes me want to force you to choke down an entire jug of Drano. Perhaps some Drano cookies, in the spirit of the forum.

Oh, well, I have other avatars if it's that much of a problem... to the admins...
No, that's actually Sae from Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly. It's one of my favorite horror titles and about as far as you can get from 'goth chick bleeding'.

Also, it's no one's problem but your own if small pictures on a Sonic forum on the Interweb cause you to have emotional problems.

Fantastic! My goal is to make everyone on the internet kill themselves in a fit of angst, so this brings it all one step closer.

By the way, DBurraki, awesome pics. I would'nt mind them in the games at all if they looked like that, especially Bunnie. Kudos to you!

If your picture somehow drives Harley Quinn furryholic so far into a curled up ball of depression that he/she/it decides to commit suicide, you will get a cookie, rest assured. Oh, and, like everyone else has been saying, nice art.

Fantastic artwork, DBurraki.

SatAm...would definitely not work in the games, for the reasons already listed in the topic, such as having to change the characters (which would piss off fanboys/girls immensely). That, and if the idea were even propsed in public, then there would be a three-ring circus formed from the obsessed retards who keep saying SatAM > Sega, with no proof whatsoever, or rationality.

That, and didn't they try to integrate SatAM characters into a Sonic game already? You know...that game.

Sonic X-treme? *hit*

Aside from the wonky art, I didn't mind Sonic Spinball too much. I prefer Pinball Party for pure pinball gameplay, but Spinball was alright for what it was.

Was a bit too jerky or me. Also, impossible. It's all about Psycho Pinball. Now there's a game to show to the grandkids.

I'll always remember Sonic Spinball as the first Sonic game that disappointed me.

Also, I like DBlack's redesigns much better than the original Archie/SatAm designs.
