I heard from early impressions that the learning curve for VF5 isn't as steep as VF4's was, which should prove somewhat beneficial to the Virtua-Fighting impaired such as myself.

I hope VF5 comes with the old Virtua Fighters (1&2), kinda like Tekken 5 came with the old Tekkens.

All this fighter-based conversation reminds me of how my AP English teacher started talking about Street Fighter, and the girl in front of me asked me if I knew where to get a copy of it, because she wanted one. Then several people did Hadoken impressions. Odd day...

I am poor, but my dad isn't. He also happens to be an impulsive spender who enjoys Sony electronics. Thus, we now have the large black chunk of plastic known as the Playstation 3.

Does he want to buy me one?

Hey, I'll own one if it's free.

Yeah, I would too, but I'd probably just end up selling it on ebay.

It seems like only yesterday when selling a PS3 could fetch you a small Canadian province.

The PS3 hasn't been fetching above-retail prices since before Christmas. Why would it? They're everywhere.

I've seen stacks of them at Costco, leading me to believe that...

1) Interest in the PS3 has died down considerably, and

2) The average person does not want to pay $600 for a base system. You don't even get any damn games.

I saw two at the Rogers Video across the street.

But I mean, come on... it's February! I'd certainly HOPE they were consistently on the shelves by now.

Anyone heard that report of the Sony exec who claimed he'd pay over a grand to anyone who found a PS3 sitting on a store shelf for over 5 minutes / days?

(Minutes or days, I forget.)

Also, it's minutes. And yes, we all read Penny Arcade.

I dunno Esrever, you couldn't get a PS2 this quickly, the PS3 was easy to get back in early January. The Xbox 360 wasn't easy to find until like April or May and the Wii isn't easy to find right now either.

Hey, man, I'm just saying that at that price I'm just surprised they sold any!

The local Fred Meyer in town here always has PS3s, they seem to keep a steady stock of about three at a time. They said they sell one every now and then, but in the time it takes to sell all three they'll have moved an entire shipment of like 30 Wiis. Though perhaps that's not really the case--last time I talked to them they'd sold all their Wiis in less than a week, and the PS3s were still sitting there.

I'm actually reminded of what I--wrongly--thought the PSX launch was be like. I couldn't imagine why anyone would want one, I thought the launch titles were terrible, and while Sega and Nintendo didn't have the greatest launches either, they at least had their reputations behind them (I guess Sega's kinda backfired). I kinda expect the PS3 will build up some momentum at some point and I'm sure there'll be games I want, but for now I'm kind of enjoying the PS3 apathy.

Even though it's been out on the market for a while, the Nintendo DS Lite seems to have a hard time staying on the shelves ever since December. I also see PS3s regularly on the shelves. I guess they seem to be selling at a steady rate, but as everyone knows it doesn't seem to sell as fast as the Wii.

Yeah, I agree. I'm just saying the fact that they can keep them in stock so easily is a very bad sign of poor sales. I'm sure they'll pull through though, I mean it's fucking Sony. They sold like 112 million PS2's. Once there is shit worth playing and the console drops a hundred or two they'll definately be making some sales. As of right now though the only two games worth owning that are going to be exclusives are MGS4 (which I have a feeling will end up on the 360) and FFXIII.

Motorstorm looked pretty interesting, but I get the feeling that I'm one of the few who likes those kinds of racing games here.

Also, a lot of the PS3's are the $500 models. I would expect the price to go down pretty quickly if sales numbers get to be much worse. By which point Xbox 360 will probably have gone down a hundred too, making Sony's announcement seem irrelavent.

It's mostly those blue-ray disk readers making the systems cost so much though.

Sony loses $300 for every PS3 they sell, so dont wait fot the prices to drop soon...
