But you can't go out and have a sword fight with anyone on the street. Which is the reason for the Wii's existence, to have a realistic sword fighting sim.Majestic Joey wrote:I still don't know about the wii. I just hate the whole idea of a console based on a gimmick. why play a video game of bowling when you can go out and bowl? that being said I should not judge it until I play it. I do like the idea of downloading old classic games though.
And I am assuming that everyone here is either trading in their Gamecube or selling it on ebay (the system only). Seeing as you can get a large chunk of funding for a Wii (if you are planning on acquiring one) by doing that.

Alright guys, I didn't bother reading most of what you guys had to say. But a lot of your questions can be answered by simply going to ign.com or 1up.com or gamespot.com.
I bought my Wii Saturday night at midnight and must say it's wonderful. I would highly recomend that you buy it. The remote is really intuitive and changes the way you play games. It makes even mediocre games like Red Steel really enjoyable.
In Wii golf you can am your swing and change clubs with the d-pad.
Zelda's mirror imaging is unnoticeable unless you've played the GC demo at E3 or something. Messing around with the Mii's, Wii Sports, and all the other extras are really worth it. This might be the best gaming perchase I've made in my life.

It's kind of hard not to get taken up with how cutesy the thing is sometimes. There are so many little things about it that are incredibly fun in a kind of silly, almost completely pointless kind of way.
I've got mine hooked up to the internet now. True to their word, it really IS online 24/7, even when the system is powered off. According to my computer it is accessing the internet every 15 minutes or so. It makes you wonder what it's doing! (Other than checking for system updates.)
I've added a couple of people to my friends list, and their Miis have already started migrating on to my system. What's the point? Beats me. But it's weird seeing creepy minimalist versions of your friends just... show up like that, waiting for you to boot the system again.
And here's an interesting note I haven't seen anywhere else yet.... if one of your friends sends your Wii a message, but your Wii is not turned on at the time, the blue light in the disc drive will turn on and start pulsating to indicate you have messages waiting. That freaked me out the first time.

Yes, Gibbon, she does. In the twighlight realm, everyone is topless.
Also, the Wii Remote is MUCH smaller in real life than I expected. Much too small and rod-like to really feel like a TV remote. Honestly, the size and width and general shape of the thing are all so penis-like it's hard to think of a better comparrison. I think most gamers will find the feeling of it in their hand immediately familiar.

I wasn't excited about it for some time, but my mind has definitely changed on the matter. Everything I've heard about the Wii over the past few months is making me want one. The price is tempting, the Wi-Fi sounds good, and there are some solid exclusives cropping up...

Sadness has me hyped the most, though. Wonderful black-and-white presentation and the sheer fact that they're applying the unique Wii controls to a horror title make this one stand out. <3

About that... yeah, it is a bit fishy. Supposedly they don't want to spoil the surprise of the game by not revealing much as of yet.Ngangbius wrote:Yeah...about that Sadness, I'm convinced it is a scam on Nibris part in order to attend E3 and maybe hope to score a Wii development kit. XD Why exactly were we shown live-action footage in place of what's usually supposed to be game footage?
There has been (what is apparently) a single screenshot released of the game itself:
