As far as GameStop goes, they're only counting the first shipment of Wiis in their pre-orders, which is considerably less than they're going to have by the end of the year. Therefore, they sold out of launch-day stock REALLY quickly.
The question, though, is how many will be available afterwards. Apparently GameStop doesn't know, otherwise we'd be able to pre-order the second batch.
Anyway, rumor has it playable Wii kiosks show up in GameStops and EBs by the end of the week. Here's hoping, I was planning on going into town this weekend anyway to sort out a bank-related issue.

Apologies in advance for the double post - I hate it as much as the other guy, but editing in PHPBB doesn't bump the topic up when your post is last, which is a rather annoying thing at times. In short, I thought this info was relevant enough for a bump, but not relevant enough for a new topic, and apparently there's no explicit rule against it. That said, the new info at hand.

But hell. Gunstar Heroes and Ristar? Who really needs much else for that time period?
...although admittedly I'd like Picross too...

Not the widest selection ever necessarily but there are a lot of gems there. Japan is apparently getting more, particularly in the SNES department, by year's end (including Super Mario World and A Link to the Past, which are curiously absent out West; and Contra 3, which, alongside Metal Slug Anthology and Gunstar Heroes, should keep run & gun fans VERY happy when it reaches the US), but I'd imagine the other continents will follow suit VERY shortly. Europe is getting virtually the same thing as the US, but apparently also get Donkey Kong Country.Brendan Sinclair of GameSpot wrote:NES

For anyone, like myself, who gets most of his news from this forum, IGN updated the list of potential Virtual Console games yesterday. Their source was the ESRB, so some of the games aren't officially confirmed, but the list is an exciting prospect nonetheless.
http://wii.ign.com/articles/744/744751p1.htmlAs it stood, the following potential 2007 VC games we hit on were as follows:
- Duck Hunt (E for Everyone)
- Hogan's Alley (E for Everyone)
- Kid Icarus (E for Everyone)
- Kirby's Adventure (E for Everyone)
- Pilot Wings (E for Everyone)
- Pro Wrestling (E for Everyone)
- Punch-Out (E for Everyone)
- Wild Gunman (E for Everyone)
New to the list, however, is a slightly more diverse catalog of games:
- Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (Super NES; rated E for Everyone)
- Kirby's Super Star (Super NES; rated E for Everyone)
- Mario Kart 64 (Nintendo 64; rated E for Everyone)
- Starfox 64 (Nintendo 64; rated E for Everyone)
- Super Metroid (Super NES; rated E for Everyone)
- Kirby's Dream Land 3 (Super NES; rated E for Everyone)
- The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time (Nintendo 64; rated E for Everyone)
- Excitebike (NES; rated E for Everyone)
- Ice Climber (NES; rated E for Everyone)
- Dr. Mario (NES; rated E for Everyone)
- Mario Brothers (NES; rated E for Everyone)
- Ice Hockey (NES; rated E for Everyone)
- Soccer (NES; rated E for Everyone)
