Unless the article heading was just poorly written...hmm...

says it's out in America in two weeks? It's not poorly written, you just suck at reading.

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl's US release date is sometime in March 2007, actually.

Cheers, Zeta. My attention returns to the Wii.

As for the article, I was caught at "Diamond & Pearl to arrive overseas in late September." Y'see, I generally don't consider Japan to be overseas in the game world, but rather the place from which other locations, such as the US, are judged as overseas. In other words, "overseas from Japan." In other words, yes, I suck at reading, but it's mainly the fault of my brimming excitement.

Come to think of it, the controller would need 6 buttons for N64 games, unless it intends to use that second thumbstick for C buttons, which wouldn't really make sense when each C button does something completely different, or worse yet in something like Smash Bros., where the direction doesn't matter at all.
True. I was thinking about that. I've already had trouble playing N64 emul*cough*ators with a PS2 joypad.

Jenkins will be interested in this, at least:

The new Pokemon games are out in Japan 2 days early, along with 114 new Pokemon, including new forms for Roselia, Aipom, Misdrevus, Chimecho, Sudowoodo, Mr. Mime, Chansey, Snorlax, Sneasel, Magneton, Lickitung, Rhydon, Tangela, Electabuzz, Magmar, Togetic, Yanma, Eevee, Gligar, Pilowswine, Porygon2, Kirlia, Nosepass, and Dusclops.

http://pokeguide.filb.de/icons.php

There's some fucked up monsters in there. Like how Nosepass's evolution is essentially Nosepass dressed up as Groucho Marx. Not to mention the samurai cricket, the sandhippos, and the giant skunks.

You're right, that is a fabulous Nosepass.

I shall have to look into this further...you will be spared my presence for what may even be a full 24 hours.

Can't speak for Zeta, but I do. 'Tis a very entertaining game with wondrous replay value.

Argh, new Eevee evolution(s)? I had busied myself since Gold and Silver coming up with my own. Drat.

Yeah, that's why I'm glad there's finally Grass Eevee. Now I want everyone in the fandom to finally fucking shut up about it.

There's something about collecting adorable monsters that makes me uncontrollably happy. The premise is like crack to me. That and Degrassi, for some reason.

You know what would be sweet? A fighting game where you could play as the Pokemon directly.

Like Smash Bros with an all-Pokemon cast? That's be cool, but with 495 or so - who do you pick?

You can play as the Pokemon directly in Mystery Dungeon, complete with ranges and stuff for the various attacks. It's pretty cool. And damned hard.

Perhaps you could actually progress through the game as a person who trains his Pokemon for direct fights like that, and that way you'd always be changing your four attacks to those which work best in melee combat.

But four attacks, even if you could switch them, would get sort of stale...well, an all-Pokemon fighter would be cool at any rate, however it's executed.

Well... It could have the four attacks plus some basic moves like punching and kicking and some grapple moves, and the attacks like "iforgotwhatthehellDUGTRIOdidthatkilledeveryone" would be specials.

I'd love to see a Def Jam-like pokemon game. Hehehe.

Just bumping this thread with a "decent" image gallery of the new pokes, and something curious:

Take a look at #405's face, Esrever- I think it looks somewhat familiar.

It's an electric lion with X-ray eyes. But if you want something really similar to TAILS, check out :

Actually, I think the lion's face looks kinda like Sam (from Sam & Fuzzy fame). Or maybe it's just the hair and the nose.

That looks lame, just like the first arcade Mario Kart game. Only one race for a dollar? Yeah, suck my cock, Namco.

And they have that thing from fucking Bandai's Tamagotch World in the sequel.

If they ever do fighting game with pokemon, it would be limited to the first 151 pocket monsters, and you would have to hack the game to play as Mew.

Cause they cant use all in the fighting game and the first 151 are the ones who get more love from fans...

Well...not being a game designer, I wouldn't know for sure, but the Pokemon game for the Wii has every Pokemon in it, so why couldn't this? The graphics wouldn't have to be as good, the world would be reduced to a bunch of arenas...it makes sense to me.

I'm going to shift AWAY from Pokemon, as we had been, and ask this - we're now less than a month away from the launch of both the PS3 and the Wii, and yet I've not heard a peep from either camp as to when stands are going to show up in stores that I can actually TRY. Any news on that front?

Other than that, I think I heard that Toys 'R' Us are doing pre-orders on Sunday. There have been a flurry of conflicting responses from employees concerning that (ie: some people say "yes", others say "no"), so I don't know what to make of it. If this is true, though, it might make up for it if you missed your chance a few Fridays ago.

I've tried reserving a Wii, but every place is out of reservations. What the fuck, guys? This is a Nintendo system. Nintendo doesn't pull the underproducing shit like Sony does (congrats on selling out all 5 PS3s you produced for the US market, by the way guys), so what the hell is happening?
