PSU Open Beta for all Xbox 360 Live Gold members

Post by Double-S- »

Download opens up on the 11th and closes on the 12th. Only a one week beta, at least that's what they say is "expected". Who else is going to be playing?

Will there be PC/360 cross-compatibility, or will the servers be isolated?

PC and PS2 servers will be compatible, 360 servers are isolated.

That sucks, but understandable, if MS amde any part of Live accessible to the PC world, it'd open it up to hackers. Too bad, though.

Yeah, I realized how stupid that looked an hour after I typed it. Forgive me please, I'm a 'tard.

I'll try to take part in it. Hell, maybe it'll be fun.

We apologize, but the BETA release dates have changed. The release date will no longer be Oct 11th, but should see release very soon after. Please watch this page, as well as our Official Phantasy Star Universe forums for more information. Thank you for your patience, we look forward to seeing everyone online very soon!
Uh oh.

Are old PSO charcaters able to be transfered? If not, I'm really not going to pick this game up... >_<

I don't even know how to react to that.

A simple 'no' would suffice.

You needed to skip school? How long did this sign up take?

The site now says it'll be up "this weekend". And go until the 18th. So it'll be a very short 4 or 5 days. Thankfully my next midterm isn't until the end of next week, so I'll have at least some free time to play.

The download is available and the beta is running RIGHT NOW. Get on.

I'm in on Double -S-'s gamertag.

Looks like a boring PSO with bad animation, a side-step feature and updated graphics.

Out of curiousity, what happened at the end there? Looked like your weapon backfired. Much to my amusement, of course.

A lot of lag happened. That was everything finally catching up and me taking damage several seconds late.

Yeah, you can hold the left bumper to side step back and forth, but the new weapon system is the coolest. You can have a weapon in each hand or one big weapon, and you can quickly switch between three sets of these. Also now magic is associated with the weapon and not the individual characters TP. You can attach two spells to each weapon or four to a two handed weapon. In the video on the rare occasion you actually saw me (Jebus) I was casting Foie out of my wand and had a gun in my other hand. Also you level up spells now by casting them over and over rather than searching everywhere for level 30 discs. It still is a lot like PSO with from what Ive seen so far shinier, but lamer enemies. I'm still debating on whether or not I want to buy it however since everyone seems to want to get it for PC.

Six sets, not three.

I downloaded the beta, created a character, and was then disappointed by the unusually high-pitched voice. I finished the tutorial, and was then called away to work for five hours.

So, I'll give it another shot in a bit.
