That is the case. In fact, the dialogue that An'jou spoke in the ending sounds forced and awkward, whereas when he just spoke Japanese during the rest of the game, he sounded like your everyday, friendly person. Now that I think about it, that's somewhat the case for all the characters... the voice actor behind An'jou just really stuck out more with said awkwardness.Shadow Hog wrote:Is it true that only the opening and ending of Panzer Dragoon Saga are in Panzerese, while the rest of the dialogue is just bog-standard Japanese? I'd heard SOMEBODY say this before (I don't know where, though), but it's not like I know either language to make the comparison myself so as to verify the claim.
Edit: Also Locit, the Panzerese language is some odd derivative of Latin with a few original words thrown in for good measure. Some words were exactly the same, such as caelum which translates to "sky".

Dammit, I was going to say that.Segaholic2 wrote:HEY! LISTEN!etc.Opa-Opa wrote:I like Issan's squeaky squaks, but maybe he could have just some "Hey!" "Wait up!" or stuff like that like Zelda's Navi fairy.
As I progress through Ōkami, gibberish talk becomes a mixed bag. Eventually, Issun's voice becomes almost soothing. Other, humorous characters end up sounding goofy which suits and compliments their personalities. On the other hand, serious characters (though they are few and far between) can sound completely retarded. The narration sections at the beginning and other parts of the game are ruined by the narrator. I think I'd prefer a typical RPG text sound, at least for those bits.

What about the FMV sections throughout the main course of the game?Parn wrote:That is the case.Shadow Hog wrote:Is it true that only the opening and ending of Panzer Dragoon Saga are in Panzerese, while the rest of the dialogue is just bog-standard Japanese? So the game is good. It's like a simplified Zelda meets Goemon with a Rare-ish design sense and bare goddess ass a-plenty. Issun doesn't bother me so much, even when he's explaining in repetitious detail the bloody freaking obvious, but I have alot of patience for that sort of thing. What annoys me is the jerky camera. It tends to blur while in motion, which, coupled with the sharp-edged look of everything, can be very disorientating. But even then, it's not like anyone has ever made a 3D action game with a functional camera (ever) so I guess I have to let that slide. I do find myself wishing for a widescreen mode, though.
I keep feeling like it should be a GameCube game for some reason. Even before it came out I kept wanting to think it was for the Cube even though I knew it was PS2.

I'd like to point out this Street Fighter reference. You gotta admit, it's probably the LAST place you'd expect Akuma's signature move (which, for reference, is here).
