Nice to see a familar face around these parts. I was wondering if anyone other than Gibbon was still around. I figured this place was overrun by the new wave of 12 year old Sonic fanboys by this point, you know the ones that we blame for Sega's ability to constantly make money on stuff like Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog. ;)Segaholic2 wrote:Yeah, you would.EternalGamer wrote:I fully admit that I enjoy words and try to make full use of my vocabulary both because I like to maintain it but also just because I like words. Anyhow, apologies on behalf of everyone else. It's good to have you back.

At least Double-S- doesn't feel the Dilbert-esque need to cover up illiteracy with ridiculously convoluted and somewhat incomplete sentences, along with stereotypically combersome words. You would have come closer to thwarting him with a simple "I don't see why."

One should not relate something to a subject which they do not understand in the least. In this case, this "something" would be Okami, and the "subject" would be religion. Elaborate enough for you?EternalGamer wrote:Would you care to elaborate as to why, or are you only capable of single sentence utterances that make you look like a douche bag and a barely literate one at that?

First, who are you to say that he doesn't understand religion?Double-S- wrote:One should not relate something to a subject which they do not understand in the least. In this case, this "something" would be Okami, and the "subject" would be religion. Elaborate enough for you?
Second, you haven't even played the game.
Third, all he did was make a hyperbolic analogy to get his point across, to which you offered no point of debate except that you thought it was retarded. Stop trolling.

Re: Okami
Seeing as how (1) I have a Bachelor's in philosophy with a special emphasis on the historical developments of Christian theology and (2) spent the first 17 years of my life in a fundementalist church which I attended 3 times a week for two plus hours at a time, I would say I understand the subject quite well, or at least better than most. It was not a intended as a universal condemnation of all religion, just a light hearted comparison to the type of passion a game with the quality of Okami inspires. If you are that uptight about your religious beliefs, you probably could use a good theological sodomizing. Lighten up.Double-S- wrote:One should not relate something to a subject which they do not understand in the least. In this case, this "something" would be Okami, and the "subject" would be religion. Doesn't it only count as trolling when it's directed at a familiar face? Clearly, EternalGamer falls under this category, but if he didn't, you would have immediately jumped in on Double-S-'s side, wouldn't you?Segaholic2 wrote:Stop trolling.

ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, for example, had a perfect alternative for voice acting, with the whole weird language thing. But then again, ICO had three characters and SotC had four talking characters.
I like Issan's squeaky squaks, but maybe he could have just some "Hey!" "Wait up!" or stuff like that like Zelda's Navi fairy. The whole Shiranui legend being told in the begining is wonderful, but that talking noise kinda takes the epicness out of it.
But the game's wonderful and I'm enjoying heaps of it. I think I'll be drawing white dogs for a while.

Actually, this whole "weird language made for the game" discussion brings up an otherwise unrelated question. I just want this confirmed:
Is it true that only the opening and ending of Panzer Dragoon Saga are in Panzerese, while the rest of the dialogue is just bog-standard Japanese? I'd heard SOMEBODY say this before (I don't know where, though), but it's not like I know either language to make the comparison myself so as to verify the claim.

From what I can tell, yeah, the main game is just in Japanese. This is admittedly going on about two months of Japanese classes, but having played it just scant minutes ago I thought a lot of the dialogue appeared to match up to common Japanese sounding words. The Panzerese in the cinemas seems to be some weird mix of English and Japanese.
Or I could be completely wrong.
