Connie likes donuts and honey. I don't know about Savory.

I gave Savory some jewels (Connie doesn't accept them) but they don't seem to hold much sway over her.

I'm hoping to find a hidden lingerie shop.

Savory likes a particular type of jewel, but I can't remember which one. Might be peridot. She also likes music and a spoiler. Connie likes donuts and honey, and if you play your cards right when you invite her over, she'll tell you what the third thing is that she likes.

For the record, that dress you can give her basically gives you an extra "heart" on the little meter during your dates.

I'd rather do Basil, honestly. I like that I was actually able to say so to Connie, even if the game didn't give me the option of actually carrying out my plans.

There is that arena operator, though. I never really pursued that path, though. Can you do anything past an incredibly awkward date?

Basil? That little shit? Honestly, Zeta, I thought you had better taste than that.

Now, what I wanted was an opportunity to date Mallow. I mean, the guy gives you his necklace. No straight guy gives another guy jewelry, unless they're related or under 10, and even then it's iffy. I'm just saying.

Nah, I tried to go back in the room and Beany gets a weird feeling and won't go in. He just giggles at you when you talk to him.

You mean the expensive one? Because she also wears it during concerts. Basil and Marjoram wear tuxes and it makes me feel really inadequate in my default rags. I think next time I'll wear the Michael Jackson suit.

Also, how... how do you take her on a date?

You have to rent a room in whichever city she's in and then just talk to her. I'm not sure it can be done at the point you're at because of the plot getting in the way.

So if I want to take her to my pad in Neuhafen, for example, she actually has to be in Neuhafen.

I should put some furniture in it before I bring a chick over anyway.

What about Savory?

Same deal. She's always in Happy Garland, until, uh, plot stuff. It might even be too late at this point.

You need at least a bed if you want anything interesting to happen.

Also, the Li'l Swabby.

Are they ever in Neuhafen after the cruise ship gig? Because I don't think you can rent anything until after that. I even splurged for the apartment on the good side of town!

Connie's off at her mother's where I'm supposed to meet her and I know something is going to happen when I get there, but I believe Savory is still in Garland, or at least was the last time I passed through. Can I rent a room there too, or will it void my Neuhafen lease?

Or hey, what about Ciboulette? She's my real favorite.

Yeah, you can date Ciboulette. Those are your three options, really.

If you have a table you can get her to cook for you. Oh, and having the girl's particular poster up is probably a good idea, too.

The screen darkens, and you hear them moan and go "That's good cocoa."

That's it.

I was dissapointed.

What... what if you have all 3 girl's posters up? Does that upset them? Oh nevermind, I'll find out.

This is a good game, if you can stomach the load times.

In a game where most of the villains are actually happy go lucky rapscallions, what were you expecting?

Also, it sort of seems like a dig at the 'hot coffee' GTA minigame, yes? Or am I giving them too much credit?

One other question: it seems I am, conveniently enough, missing a single gem from each dungeon. I plod in and out, but I only end up getting duplicates of gems I already have. Is there some trick to getting the last jewel out of each, or do you really just have to go in and out until it eventually appears randomly or until you die of old age? Because that shit pisses me off.

Ciboulette, incidentally, makes for the most delightfully awkward date ever.

I'm only a short ways in - I've only just gotten to Happy Garland, but the entire time's been very entertaining and just full of compelling stuff thus far. Hell, even the manual came off as a decent read, full of far more personality than the standard dull as dishwater manual that comes with most games.

The one little thing that gave me a major stumbling block was that dress in Nefroburg - at 12,000 UR it's quite expensive. And by the time I was getting around to saving up for it, [plot] happened, and the next thing I knew, Connie was apparently set to leave. So I panicked, figuring I'd have to get the dress there and then. Most of my gameplay time after was spent playing on the piano for tips at the Aphrodite Bar in Nefroburg in order to get Connie that expensive dress. Thank god the people at the bar were apparently loaded.

For the record, Play-asia just slashed the price on the Japanese original from $65 to $20. So if you're like me and must own the game in its most pristine, unspoiled state, all you stand to lose is an Andy Jackson. Grab it now before the Best version comes out, complete with its hideous yellow stripe.

So don't say I never did anything for you wretches.
