I worry about the n00bs who think that way, this wont be pretty.Frieza2000 wrote:Some of these are a stretch, but DBZ had way more influence on this series than that.SegaSonic wrote:And Sonic turing Super was the only reference, nothing else.
Knuckles= Kame/Piccollo. Former major villain turned good after his first game/saga both of which were split into 2 parts (S3&K/King Piccollo saga&Tournament saga), both guardians, both live high above the world, both have a relation to the 7 DBs/Emeralds.
Robotnik= Emperor Pilof. First villain, most reused villain, childish and goofy, owns many magically impossible machines, both had craft that resembled the Death Star, both hate/fear Goku/Sonic, both eventually resorted to unleashing King Piccollo/Chaos to fight Goku/Sonic, both were betrayed and humiliated by him/it.
Chaos= King Piccollo. Sealed inside master emerald/electric jar, has relation to Kame/Knuckles(as a member of the echidna race), released by Pilof/Robotnik to grant him power. Both turned on their emancipator, neither were sealed away again.
Amy=Bulma, some amount of Chi Chi. First female introduced (if CD had come out before Sonic 2, both would've been the first main character introduced after Sonic/Goku), both pricks. Not that strong a connection, but both fill the same archetype.
Chao= Nameks. Peace loving people, created the dragonballs/are the earliest know holders of the emeralds, gave birth to King Piccollo/Chaos.
Echidnas= Mixture of Saiya-jins+Nameks. Love fighting, tried to conquer other races, guarded emeralds/dragonballs for a short time, were destroyed.
Shadow=Poor Vegeta parody. Same race as Sonic/Goku, tried to destroy Earth, first villain after King Piccollo. At Vegeta's first death, he abandoned his pride and humbly begged Goku to fight. At his first death, Shadow abandoned his malice and benevolently died to save the world. Both later become angsty and have no reason to live outside of being Sonic/Goku's rival, both apparently have time traveling sons from the future.
SA1=King Piccollo saga. Both mark the beginning of a change in tone from the DB/Early Sonic style, becoming more realistic and story driven. Many agree that they also mark the beginning of a decline in the quality of the series.
SA2=Poor Saiya-jin saga parallel. Both mark a drastic darkening of the series' tone and a definitive change from fantasy to sci-fi. Both become pretty monotonous after this.
Sonic Heroes=Cell saga. An android created by an old villain goes around absorbing everyone's data to become the ultimate being, both full of plot holes.
Perhaps even the pinball segments were inspired by the episode from DB's first season, "The penalty is Pinball." We already have confirmation that S3&K's special stage was inspired by King Kai's planet and I would've called that a pretty big stretch.
I came up with those about the same time I was writing my literature final on the Frieza saga.
I'm not a fanboy, I swear. I've just thought about this way too much.

B. The assignment was to do a combination research paper/literary analysis (research other peoples' analyses and support/refute them in your own), worth 100% of the semester grade. My professor had never heard of DBZ. When I proposed the work for his approval I said it was a graphic novel (I may have eventually called it a comic, I don't remember) that had a TV show based on it. He said he wasn't sure he was qualified to analyze something like that, but said I was welcome to try. Not wanting to fail the course, I also mentioned that all of my sources would likely be from the internet because nobody had really written about it (and even then, I only found one that was anything like a real analysis. Everything else if from message boards. Check the works cited list, it's hilarious). He reminded me of how questionable such sources would be, but I argued that as long as their citations of the work are accurate, then the merit of their conclusions should be self evident. He expressed worry for my grade, but I really wanted to write this so I did a draft. He said it looked workable so I turned it in.Light Speed wrote:You wrote a final on the Frieza Saga? What kind of grade did that pull?
I'm not sure why it got a B. I couldn't have fooled him or anything; I had to include a full copy of every one of my sources with the paper (the threads I got the quotes from). The one on the front page even had a picture of SSJ3 Goku on it and he wasn't the kind of professor that just skims over things he grades so I'm pretty sure he figured out that I was writing about a cartoon and using 12-year-olds on GameFAQs as sources. Maybe he gave me the benefit of the doubt, maybe he took it more liberally because of how seriously I was taking it and how excited I was about writing it, or maybe he figured that I'd sufficiently demonstrated that I could write a research paper and analyze literature. Whatever happened, it's the most fun I ever had writing a paper for school and one of my fondest memories of college.

No, not really because Silver looks nothing like Sonic. And Naka (I believe) said that Silver is young.
Also on the whole DBZ/Sonic parallels. I never thought about the (Except Super Sonic, Shadow/Vegeta. But those are obvious) whole series like that but it does make sense even if it is a bit of a stretch.

I heard idle speculation...
I'd say Silver is definately a new character and may shed more light on Shadow. Its a balance; Shadow, dark hedgehog from the past, knows nothing; Silver, light hedgehog from the future, knows something.
If Shadow was created by Gerald, then maybe Silver was created by Eggman's child/grandchild. Maybe this 'twin' is really a future Eggman.
I still say the 4th hedgehog is probably from the future also...maybe it's an enemy of Silver's trying to prevent him from doing his mission.

One is a gun-ho chopper pilot and another stalks the gritty urban streets of Station Square, looking for ways to pay for his next fix of Chaos energy.Locit wrote:There are actually seven more characters to be included in the game, all new, and all playable.
The others are all basically Sonic with different colored eyes.
