I don't think that is what you meant.
I don't think that is what you meant at all.

Not really, Inuyasha had a fire horse that looked a lot like a pokemon...I’m just saying people would say they copied pokemon.
Actually, it was a cat / fox, but I see what you mean.

Well I don't. I mean, pangolins in videogames are hardly a regular occurrence. In fact, I think Sandshrew is their sole representative and even then the name hardly points kids in the right direction, zoologically speaking.

Besides, there's a pokemon based on practically EVERYTHING. At least, there are certainly pokemon that look like Foxes, bats, rabbits, and cats. Isn't there a hedgehog-y one too?

Sandslash is the closest they've come to it I guess. I remember how in Yoshi's Island theres a small blue Hedgehog who grows and moves his spikes around. So Mario already has his own "Sonic" enemy. :P

The blue hedgehog enemies in Mario first appeared in Super Mario 2(USA version). I didn't beat SMB2 until after I got into the Sonic games so I was floored when the ending listed them as Hedgehog. =D

Also, the hedgehogs in Pokemon were the G/S fire-type starter. Cyndiquill, I think the name was.

Oh yeah! they were in Super Mario Bros. 2 were they also blue back then? werent they black?

Thats right! Cyndiquill! I forgot about that one, since his "quills" are made out of fire you tend to forget. But Cyndiquills have long snout, they can also be echidna pokemon who knows?

That's strange seeing as they look more like echidnas then anything else. Hedgehogs are definitely more mouse like (being rodents). Cyndiquill has the snout, no ears, and no wiskers. It's an echidna. Nintendo is wack.

Fire mouse.
Since we've already changed the topic to Pokemon, I'd like to comment how satisfying it is to know Gamefreak finally made a "pure" flying-type pokemon (the parrot one).

My top three types of animals that were lacking Pokemon based on them were otter, parrot, and dolphin. There's still hope for the dolphin, I guess.

And yea, Cyndaqul's pretty obviously an echidna with that snout. I guess they were ripping off Sega, what with two different franchises having characters based on the same animal OMG!

Sarcasm, by the way

Knuckles don't even resemble a real echidna, anyhow.

And hedgehogs are not rodents, in response to Rad.

Seems to me like they did it just because there wasn't one before. The parrot looks sort of cool, but I know for sure how useable he'll turn out: just another craptacular novelty Pokémon that'll sit in one of the PC boxes the whole game or you'll turn him loose because his stats are so bad. It was painted all over him from the moment I first saw it. Flying is also a poor man's Fire type without any supporting type to back it up.

This is why I dread the thought of them including many more Pokémon in Diamond/Pearl; it's already ridiculous at 386. Speaking of the game, it looks as if Game Freak's still spinning their wheels after all these years (yes, I tried Drill Dozer, and no, it's not that fun).

I'd have thought someone would bring up The Cave of Harry Hedgehog from Yoshi's Island before that.

Meh. I'm dissapointed, but somewhat relieved they didn't try to make shitty 3-D battles instead. I still have a modicum of hope the battles with be animated.

You're right. They're instead in the order of insectivora. Well what do you know. Probably a teeth thing. What was with keeping Chikoreeta's name the same as the japanese version? You can change Hinoarashi to Cyndaquill but can't change Chikoreeta's name to anything else?

Chikorita's name comes from chicory, a type of plant. So it's name is English, while Hinoarashi's is Japanese.

I heard that Satoshi Tajiri had plans for about 500 different Pokemon designs before the creation of the first game. With all the money the franchise is still making though, it would not be surprising if they go beyond 500.

Also the series needs a StratRPG and...I guess a MMORPG.

Really, I heard quite the opposite from Drill Dozer.

I heard a lot of good things about Drill Dozer, considering it's the first non-Pokemon Game Freak title that has come to America since that Yoshi puzzle game on Game Boy and NES.

One mostly useless note:

Sonic is a hari nezumi (hari=spike, quill; nezumi=mouse).
Knuckles is a hari mogura (mogura=mole... most probably the reason why AD Vision said Knuckles was a mole in the DVD version of the Sonic OVA, aside from coming from underground).

Stay on-topic with your Pokémon chit-chat, it's pretty interesting.

EDIT=Also, nezumi could mean rat... don't look at me, it's written in the fucking dictionary!! I hope Sonic's not...

Ok, then.
On the topic of pokemon we'd like to see, a water/steel type swordfish would be pretty cool.

Actually, I've seen Japanese people refer to hedgehogs as harimogura.

As for Pokemon, I desire more ice-types based on arctic animals. Polar bears, snow leapoards, reindeer. Not seal-animals. Just ice-types. Hell, a Grass/Ice-type pine tree would be awesome. On a similar note, a Ghost/Grass Jack-O-Lantern would totally kick ass. Especially with Wil-O-Wisp as an attack.

Oh, and we desperately need electric types that are NOT Pikachu-related, like Riachu, Pichu, Plusle, etc. Cheetahs, gazelle. Anything. I fucking hate electric rodents. More Fire-types would be good too, since we only got like 3 in RuSa (counting final evolutions only). I'd like another mammalian Fire-type starter, since Cyndaquil was just keen.

You obviously haven't payed attention to any recent sales charts.

The RPGs especially moves millions of units worldwide and I wouldn't be surprised if the franchise is either second in worldwide popularity next to Mario, or third next to Gran Turismo.

If the Japanese are already batshit insane about the DS/DSL. Just think of the uber-madness when Diamond/Pearl finally comes out this fall.

Kids under 14 aren't people.

(And kids 14-17 are stupid people.)
