So, I recently picked up a Nintendo 64 just to play Bomberman Hero. It's not because I thought Bomberman Hero was an incredible game worthy of the utmost respect and praise. That's a narrow hole in the N64 only filled by Starfox 64, but I digress.

I picked it up for the infectious soundtrack. Even the Game Over sound is wonderful and bizarre all at once. Now, one could question, "Why buy the game when you could just as easily download the soundtrack from Galbadia Hotel?"

The answer, of course, is that I wanted to play the game to see if I actually enjoyed it. Sadly, I did not. The game has many, many flaws compared to its predecessor, but it is still a solid game. Most of my time was spent standing around in-game, and taking in the mediocre graphics.

It looks good, as long as the game play is fun, it will be fine.

It still looks like to Bomberman to me, which is a good thing, considering you can't do much with the guy. I'd prefer that model over the one from the Jetters anime anyday.

That new Bomberman makes me shake my head in shame. These waves of turning cute, cuddly characters into badass mofos almost makes me wanna quit gaming.

Yeah, I've been meaning to bring that up. It's true that the Bomberman games have been stale since Super Bomberman - there was not really any need to keep making them after that - but this is the biggest load of happy horseshit I think I've ever seen, and that's including the Shadow game and Mario's EA sports cameos. I think that was all I needed to see.

I think Saturn Bomberman was worthwhile, due to the option of having up to 10 players.

I don't get why they keep on trying to make Bomberman games 3D. It just doesn't work, even when the 2D gameplay principles are retained. The screen ends up looking a lot more cluttered and busy, which detracts from the simplistic and quick-response driven gameplay.

So, any bets on how long before Taito previews a Bubble Bobble game starring cyber-punk teens taken prisoner by a corrupt military and transformed into energy ball shooting cyborg velociraptors, who must do battle with hordes of mutant zombie soldiers through a 100 level underground city of post-apocalyptic Earth?

Bomerman 64 was an okay game, but that's all it was: okay.

The Bomberman 64 commercial had a pretty good homage to the old Spider-Man theme song.

The one with the online multiplayer deathmatch mode? It was pushed back so as not to coincide with the release of Lode Runner: Street Smart, the gritty urban revival where the main character navigates the dark alleys and backstreets of the Gothic City ghetto, trying to recover his stashed dope before the heat cracks down. I understand there's going to be a prostitute-kicking minigame and a huge array of weapons. The original Lode Runner is hidden on the disc, except now the main character's sprite is black.

In retrospect, I've decided that the new Bomberman is a load of horeshit. But when was the last good Bomberman game, anyway?

And some people wonder I play only music simulation games nowadays, and why I haven't played a Sonic game for real since Heroes.

I was a huge fan of Saturn Bomberman - multiplayer on that game was a blast, and single player was fun, too. I wish it had been on Dreamcast and had decent online capabilities, say, like Chu Chu Rocket; I would've been all over that. The Netlink didn't quite cut it, and I didn't have one.

Funny you should mention that.

Official Art of Bubble Bobble Evolution for the PSP

Not as screwed up as your twisted concept but still somewhat bizzare for Bubble Bobble. Bub and Bob kept their human forms but wear dino costumes and blow bubble trumpets? The enemies are sorta messed up also.

That isn't actually made by Taito, though, is it? I thought I remembered reading that it's made by the same group that did the Lemmings update.

Bomberman 64: The Second Attack was one of my favorite N64 games. I sucked at it, but it was fun. Last bomberman game I played since that was Bomberman MAX for GBC, which was really frustrating.
I always wanted to play Bomberman Online, though. Was that any good?
