I actually felt like dying today...

Post by Omni Hunter »

Because it was supposed to be just another day, other single guys know how it goes, you ignore the fucking day to stop going over the emo-edge.

Today I was meant to go to a bank and make a deposit for car insurance and all that jazz, but NO, I have to wait in a queue with a couple in "Snoogy Mode" in front of me.
This of course get's on my tits, why the fuck should I want to know what they want from Ann Summers or what special treat they have lined up for each other.
To make it worse, they were so engrossed in each other that what should have taken a short while was made noticable longer thanks to them not noticing that they were next.

So, that's my day, how was yours?

I sympathize. I'm always annoyed when a couple gets overly affectionate in a public place. Sure, it's great that they're happy, or whatever, but I don't need to see it while I'm eating, thank you.

Bah to Valentine's Day. At least if I went to school in Japan, I'd get pity chocolates from cute Japanese women. Here...nothin'.

I, too, get annoyed when people get all touchy in public.

Don't kids have school in Japan every single day? Or is that just a rumor I heard when I was a boy?

I don't mind when people get touchy in public. Good for them, they've found some sort of transient happiness in each other. As long as they're not removing any clothing, screw anyone who thinks they shouldn't show their feelings physically.

As for me, I went and bought myself the seventh volume of Sandman. And a piece of chocolate cheesecake. I mean, I'm already fat, what's it gonna hurt?

One day, someone's gonna make a list of all the things that fall into those categories, just to be able to discern something that owns from something that pwns.

Hoi, I do enough physical activity that I don't gain weight. I don't do enough physical activity to actually lose weight, because I'm a lazy bum.

Besides, this cheescake is fucking delicious.

Equilibrium man, that's what it is all about. Figure out a way to not gain any weight, but still eat whatever the fuck you want. However, my roommate is in this crazy 'Get sexy before the end of the semester' phase, so he has me working out with him now. Something I haven't done since I quit my ski team like 3 years ago.

Oh and yes, Cheesecake rocks, I'm hungry as hell right now too.

A rumor. They only go to school 6 and a half days a week.

People that make out in public are assholes. "I'm happy so I don't have to care about other people" is just fucking selfish. They fall under the same category as people who roll their windows down and play loud music and cock-suckers that smoke.

I still think Valentine's Day is a pointless holiday.

What exactly is it about two people making out that bothers you guys? I am being totally serious here. Do happy people piss you off in general, or do you just find the act of kissing visually disgusting?

It's not the display of affection so much as it is the uncomfortableness involved. Watching a make-out session is like seeing a deformed kid -- you know you're not supposed to stare, but you don't know where to put your eyes.

See, I don't have a problem with not staring at deformed kids. I think "wow, that sucks" and move on.

And sometimes, the people are ugly.
Really I think a peck here or there ain't nothin' ta get upset over, but when people get so into it they forget their immediate surroundings it can get kinda awkward. Especially if you have to interrupt them for one reason or another.

In Japan isn't there some crazy ass deal where girls give gifts on Valentine's day and boys have to give them gifts in return a month or so later? What the hell is that day called?

But the same attitude can be taken from the perspective of the offender. Perhaps it's the bystanders who should be courteous and understanding and just endure or ignore the offending behavior.

It comes down to ethical hedonism, to live your life the way you want while not preventing other people from doing the same. The thing is that some people are offended by crazy things, like life. So we end up drawing a line between what's courteous and what's unreasonable, and everyone draws the line in a different place. Something physically harmful like second hand smoke is an easy call, but things that harm us mentally (or just annoy us) are tough to agree on and are handled by general consensus. Public kissing seems to be a pretty evenly divided issue in our culture.

It's kind of hard to do that when you're standing in line behind them with nothing to really look at, which is the context I had in mind given Omni's original post. Replace "deformed kids" with whatever you like, it's only an analogy.

White Day; and yeah, it's March 14.

Eh, I couldn't really care less. However, the other night I was at a Pizza place with some friends and these two girls and a guy were sitting next at the table next to us. One of the girls and the guy just started going at it, I didn't really care about that, but I felt bad for the other girl. She was just kinda sitting there at the table looking embarrased as all hell.

It's not just any gift, though. Girls get boys chocolate on Valentine's Day, and boys used to get girls marshmallow stuff on White Day, but it quickly led to getting them anything that's white. Which, for obvious reasons, is awesome.
