And Neo Yi agrees? Wow. I never would have guessed that it was actually more popular than One-Winged Angel.

Why do you act so surprised that I like Dancing Mad better?

What about FFVIII's The Extreme? That's pretty much the only FF final boss tune I like more than OWA.

I thought it was decent, nothing good, nothing bad. I liked the beginning part mostly.

Sin/Yu Yevon went crawling around a planet for a couple thousand years indescrimantely and randomly destroying cities, towns, and villages and demanding human sacrifice to even put him down for a year or two before regenerating anyways. That's gotta put him at least on the same level as Kefka and Kuja.

I thought Sin/Yu Yevon was sweet, but Seymour still sucks.

I wasn't surprised that you in particular preferred Dancing Mad, just that it was preferred by anyone. Sure, it's a pretty good tune, but it sometimes strikes me as incomplete or that moer could have been done with it. Also, it just can't quite compare with OWA, at least, not in my mind. OWA is just inherently evil and strikingly well done.

On a related note, why the nochalance about The Extreme? The first time I heard it, I was blown away. It's amazing. Until then, I (having never played FFVIII) had always thought that The Legendary Beast was the final boss tune, and had doubts that anything better could be written. When I found out that Maybe I'm A Lion was for later phases of the final boss, I was pissed, but when I found out that there was a third tune, and heard how great it was, I felt justified.

The Extreme is pretty awesome, I love all the build up at the beginning followed by the crazy techno-ish stuff.

Sure, but I never really saw Sin or Yu Yevon as any kind of a villain. Sin is just a gigantic self-defence mechanism, and Yu Yevon is a brain-dead tick that just keeps on carrying out a simple set of instructions over and over again for eternity: posses aeon -> make Sin -> summon dream world -> repeat until dead.

Because there a such things as non-FF7 fanboys and fangirls (I'm not claiming you are one). On a somewhat related note, I also like the boss theme of Ansem from Kingdom Hearts, yes, also even more so then One-Winged Angel.

I say the Extreme, The Legendary Beast and Zeromus are all underrated as final boss music. Especially Zeromus, Black Mages style.

Jenkins, I'm just curious do you believe Dancing Mad actually starts when you fight Kefka or when you start at the 3 Goddess tiers? There is only one correct answer but many people get this question wrong anyway.

I too perfer Dancing Mad over OWA.

I also really liked Zeromus battle theme but I was dissappointly underwhelmed by the Black Mages' version of it. It didn't seemed fast pace enough and lacked a lot of the energy of the original, and that theme should have been easy for the Black Mages to rock hardcore to it.

The build up to Kuja's final battle was--even if it did borrowed from Queen's We Will Rock You.

Refesh my memory, but which FF game is the theme, The Legendary Beast from?

The tune(s) which I refer to as Dancing Mad start with that one which sounds like a chiming clock, and the two versions I have on my computer are both over 10 minutes long (the rip is over 17 minutes, and the Black Mages version is just over 12). If this is Ngangbius's "incorrect" answer, then which do you refer to as Dancing Mad? Whether Dancing Mad refers to the entire set of tunes or just the one, I still prefer OWA.

Ear sex? Wouldn't that be aural sex?

Dancing Mad starts when you fight the bottom tier of the final battle. Many people mistakenly assume it starts when you directly fight Kefka. It's a pretty long song so you are correct.

Also, this may sound odd, but I also like Birth of a God a bit more than One Winged Angel.

Amazing. I agree. Then again, that's three people in rapid succession, so maybe not amazing. Birth of a God is fantastic.

Y'know that's funny cause I like it better as well. I remember when my friend made it to the final boss for his second time but the first time I had ever seen it, he said "The music for the Sephiroth battles are awesome." I was totally blown away by "The Birth of God," and he said "Yeah it's good but the next one's even better." I ended up quite dissappointed when One Winged Angel came on. I appreciate it more these days but I still think that Birth of God's better.

I fifth this notion. In fact, I really don't care much for One Winged Angel at all. It suits the battle, sure, but it just doesn't cut it on it's own. At least, in my opinion.

No, OWA is far too dramatic, character themes in RPGs are pretty laid back compared to the boss tunes, otherwise there is no sense of a build up.
Think of character themes like the basic melodies and boss tunes as the guitar solos.

How exactly is it that you guys can a) find out and b) remember the "real" names of the tunes from the game? Sorry to call you obsessed or whatever, but I never get any further than "That really kickass tune you get when you fly the Ragnarok" and variations thereof; simple, functional and casual. I really could not tell you what a one winged angel is.

But anyway. What were we talking about before this? Villains. The answer is, no villain from a Final Fantasy game is badass because they all look like female catwalk models. I don't really play RPGs so I can't comment on the secret river boss from Mega Phantasy Lunar Excellent Duel Saga 15 HELLO!! or whatever you fucking guys are importing from Japan at the moment.

It's not just internets. There are some certain companies nowadays that are giving(a partial) OST as a pre-order bonus for a game or just packing it with the game. Also I do remember Tokyopop relasing partial OSTs for games in the past in the US. Do they still do that?

But by that logic, I could easily say that no character from the Sonic series is badass because they resemble Mickey Mouse.
