Sony: taking lessons from Cartoon Network?

Post by jenkins »

I saw the new ad for the PSP (outside carpet), and I couldn't help but think that, among other things, they were ripping off Aqua Teen Hunger Force in terms of sheer random weirdness. Plus, the dust bunnies were obviously susuwatari from Totoro or Spirited Away. I dunno...it was a pretty funny ad, but...meh.

Anything with a squirrel saying "Hellz yea!" is auto-win in my book.

But not really.

Aqua Teens didn't invent random humor, or even the combination of random humor with lazy animation, and Miyazaki didn't invent dust bunnies.

The only one I particularly like is the one with the squirrels pushing the portable aspect.
Squirrel 1: Come out 'n' play!
Squirrel 2: I can't, I'm playing nut!
Squirrel 1: But there's portable nut!
Squirrel 2: Whaaaat!

They're dust bunnies. You may as well ask who invented the stick figure or <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henohenomo ... omoheji.

The one PSP commercial where the Squirrels ramble about the graphics makes me think the PSP needs a new slogan. And that slogan will be, "Why play video games when you can look at them."

Van Der Graaf Generators are cool. Assuming he's talking about the lightning bolt machines.

A quick search on google implies it's also the name of a prog rock band.

Bearing in mind Crazy Penguin already stated the fact, why the fuck did Jenkins even ask?
LONG RECOIL PRINCIPLE
I have a long recoil principle, a very long recoil principle.

You could always just assume that I'm an idiot, but I asked because I thought Crazy Penguin was either guessing or making an inside joke.
