X-Tremely slow?

Post by CE »

Here's a copy and paste of what was posted to AFSH. Yeah I'm too lazy to actualy put together an original post.
saw this on gaming-age

http://www.ga-forum.com/showthread.php? ... ost2532434

One of the head programmers of the Sega Saturn title, Sonic X-Treme
named Chris Senn recently found old material related to Sonic X-Treme,
featuring a very old fashoned demo to show Sonic moving in 3D,
including footage of another character!

Here is a demo that he put together to try to pitch the idea

http://xtreme.projectsonic.com/tiara/sxc_side.gif

Plus in-game footage with the female character Tiara. Whoas!

This doesn't look like the game I saw advertized way back when. I don't remember X-Treme being as slow as Sonic Labrynth or having 2D levels. If this is what X-Treme would have turned out like, I'm almost happy it got canceled.[/quote]

Tiara looks pretty familiar, and the gameplay seems slow even when it's been sped-up. Either that or the video has been slowed down which I don't think is the case, either way, the clock is fucked.

It looks like Tiara was made to favor another character.

She looks kinda like Sally. Smushed with Cream. Basically she looks a little lame....

As does the game, those ancient screenshots made this game look so much more exciting.

Yeah. If you go to the message board where the guy actually posted that video, he clearly stated that it was just a "concept" video that he put together with a two week deadline. I believe he said he made it on an Amiga, too.

I kind of like how Sonic "Throws Up the Horns" at the end of the demo. EEX-TREEEEEME!

As a rocker, I found that mighty appealing. I wish Sonic did that all the time now.

Okay, now she's starting to look a bit less like Sally. At least, she does once she has clothes on.

I have to say, that flick she gives her ponytail at the end of the gif is a nice touch...

Still looks like a Sally Clone (excuse) to me.

I wonder If she was going to be a random Female character or would be another Sonic Admirer...or worst Sonic's love interest. Burn Archie Burn!

She's actually a Manx cat, and not a hedgehog.

Replace "spikes" with "tail", then. Or "paws". Or "whiskers". Or any other given feline feature. You didn't really help there.

Manx cats generally have no tail at all, though some have a very short stubby tail.

But I agree with your overall sentiment.

Originally, they also said that she was a bandicoot. XD

But yeah, I'm with CP and jman. Blaze and Big look more cat-like than Tiara--even if she is supposed to lack a tail.

And Sonic looks like a hedgehog? Bearing in mind that the character was designed way before the Sonic series was revamped and designs came up for Big, let alone blaze.

Sonic has spikes to tip you off that he's a hedgehog. Tiara just has triangularish ears, which could belong to a lot of animals.

Not on Pangolins, I wish there was a pangolin character in the Sonic series, that would be cool.

Nice, but he needs a longer tail I guess.
