You know what? After listening it a few more times, I think I'm starting to like Passion more than Simple and Clean. It is less pop-ish.

I like the designs for Fuujin and Raijin.

Seifer needs a new shirt, though.

Something about Seifer's design makes me want to punch him in the face. I think it's the hat.

I've always wanted to punch Seifer in the face. Everything about him is irritating.

Hopefully Seifer will have a minor role in the game. It's a pity that Squall and Seifer made it over from FF8, but there's no Rinoa or Quistis :P.

And I'm still really surprised that Nomura is using a character from an FF he didn't design. To take it further, I think it'd be pretty funny to have a homicidal Kefka going around murdering people, but he's not very KH-friendly. And I doubt Square could redesign him into Nomura-esque style. And even if they could, they probably shouldn't.

Listened to Passion. It's pretty damn good, and it's been growing on me.

If I remember in an interview with Nomura on some article I read a few months back, Nomura stated it's not because he didn't design the characters that he didn't add FF9 based characters, but more or less because he felt he couldn't give it as proper "credit" as he does his own.

If so, it's earned my respect.

This is weird, though - how KHI basically had one non-traditional Disney animated stage (Halloweentown) while the sequel is going to have four and only two Disney cartoon movie stages that we know of.

i heard tron inspired the matrix.

When the first Kingdom Hearts came out and everyone had played it,
and there was talk about what the sequel should contain,
the furries said, "A Lion King world where Sora turns into a lion!"
and the comedians said, "A Steamboat Willie world! Haha, yeah right!"
and the Vivi fans said, "Vivi! I love that little guy!"
and the cool people said, "A Tron world! That would be the raddest, sir!"
and that 2002 talk seemed pie in the sky.

Another non-Nomura FF character is comfirmed to appear in this game.

SETZER!(FFVI)--who was awesome. ;_;

Oh yeah and that pic also shows the KH versions of FFX-2's Yuna, Rikku, and Paine.

Oh shit, Setzer! Finally, a character I actually care about.

I really would've preferred if they kept his design a little more Amano-ish, but I suppose if Nomura had to redesign him, that's the best we could've hoped for. At least he doesn't have twenty belts.

And um... Isn't it kinda weird how Yuna, Rikku, and Paine are super-deformed while all the other (human) characters have more realistic (well, anime "realistic") proportions?

From what I hear, they're supposed to be fairies.

The cameos in this game are getting more screwy as they are announced. And I don't care if anyone else cares, but I think the half-chibi versions of Yuna, Rikku, and Paine are cute.

The games comes out next month in Japan, right?

Yeah.

YRP aren't superdeformed so much as they simply have standard Kingdom Hearts child character proportions. Of course they're 20ish in FFX-2, but it wouldn't be the first time adult FF characters were rendered children when they popped up in KH.

Setzer looks like as faithful an interpretation of Amano's design as Nomura could be expected to produce. Pretty much everything is right on except the spiky hair; obviously, it could have been a lot worse. The scan text says he's the "Struggle Battle Champion," which I presume means he's the final boss of a gauntlet of successive battles like Sephiroth and the Ice Titan were in the first game. Good stuff.

I was thrilled when I heard Setzer would be in it, considering he's one of my favorite FF characters (and my favorite FF6 character). Frankly, the spiky hair is a bit too much, but I'm not complaining, really.

Setzer is a gambler who strives at the sense of adventure at every turn. While it may seem that he leads a rich and peaceful life, he does have a tragic past behind him. His main contribution to the game is that he has an airship to help the others for transportation purposes although he is a decent fighter and relies mainly on luck to determine his fate.
Sounds like he might help you go from world to world, rather than using the gummi ship again.

Are you sure? I don't think I've seen any new gummi ship screen shots yet.

I heard that early in the development, but considering that 90% of the players loathed that aspect of game with all of their being - I wouldn't be shocked to hear they changed their minds.

The gummi ship sequences are still in the game, providing the bulk of the travel between worlds. From what trailers have shown, it appears to have been sped up significantly.
