Xbox RPGs

Post by chriscaffee »

Aside from KoTOR/2 and Morrowind, I need some recommendations. Detailed explanations would be nice, but just titles would also be sufficient.

Halo.

Seriously though, I think Fable is decent or something (I never actually played it) and Sudeki kept me entertained, though it kinda sucked ass after I thought about it for a little while.

EDIT: <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/games.html?plat ... e=games">I guess there aren't that many after all.</a>

Fable is fun... for the two hours it lasts. It's filled with a lot of half-assed design choices that let you know just how much was cut from the actual game-- Your character ages, but no one else in the world does, so by the end of the game, you look like you're about twenty years older than your older sister and your old man mentor. The script for the entire story could probably fit on a single page, and the main villain has absolutely no personality and his motives are never explained, or even get attempted to get explained. Combat is fun, but the difficulty level is a joke and a toddler could beat the game. Despite the fact that the game took 5 years to develop, the whole thing feels very rushed. But, if you don't mind paying 20 bucks for 2-5 hours of gameplay, it's a decent hack-and-slash... Just don't expect a fully fleshed out experience.

Best RPG on Xbox is either KotOR1 or Jade Empire. Jade Empire gets my vote for it's superior fighting engine, but it's really up to personal preference. It really depends if you'd prefer jedi or chinks.

...PSO is good too.[/i]

Jade Empire was okay. The story didn't really do anything for me, but the combat was entertaining enough for me to beat the game (also the fact that there was nothing else to play at the time).

Fable was boring and I stopped probably less than an hour before the end. I just didn't CARE. The good / evil thing is boring, too.

But yeah. Searching the Xbox for good RPGs is like looking for... something that's hard to find. The suggestions here pretty much fills out the entire genre's library.

Fable is okay, but if you walk away from it, even just for a week, you'll never pick it back up. It just has that little replay value. If you get bored and try to take a break, I swear, you will never come back to the game.

Seriously, you're better off replaying Morrowind or KOTOR. Have you tried doing a solo KOTOR game? Or no items?

Was KOTOR2 really sexy or anything? I enjoyed KOTOR1, but I haven't picked it up since I beat it back when it came out and just didn't feel like spending money on KOTOR2 when it came out. So should I go pick it up now?

You might as well. The system is much more refined now, and I enjoyed it more than the first one.
