Second time's a charm?

Maison Ikkoku Drama (2005-10-17 15:25:35)
According to an article in Big Comic Spirits Magazine, a live-action drama based on Rumiko Takahashi's Maison Ikkoku will be broadcast next year. No further details are currently available. Source: Animenation
Well, at least they'll have the full story to work with this time, so hopefully we'll get something comprehensible.

Speaking of which, I still haven't picked up volume 13. Viz's distribution in Canada has been pretty shoddy lately, but I hear they've been acting up a bit all over. Is that true?

I always thought it would be cool if they did a short live action Urusei Yatsura video. Not a movie or anything, just like a 5-minute CG special effects extravaganza with all the usual gags done with realistic Hollywood effects and involving Tomobiki High collapsing to the ground (again) to the tune of Uchuu wa Taihen Da as performed by, I dunno, The Pillows or something. I think it would make for a pretty badass 5 minutes.

I guess you read volume 12 of Ikkoku, then? Do you see what's starting to happen? Do you see what's starting to happen? The woman has made her decision! And oh, there will be shit to scrape off the ceiling before all is said and done with. The last couple of volumes are the best, except that when they're over, it's finished.

I only just ordered volume 13 last night... I usually order them online and they always ship on time. Local retail establishments are always a few volumes behind, and they never have enough to go around.

Well, just as long as you weren't hoarding a bunch of pictures of me without realizing...

Volume 13 is on the way. Now you've gotten me all excited.

I've already read the whole damn series once and I'm still on the edge of my seat. 'Cause it's like... duuude! Just be warned that once the ball starts rolling, there's no turning back. The conclusion is nigh.

Volume 15 isn't supposed to be released until February, though. February! I might be dead by February (at least I hope to)!

I am also congenially reminding everyone who hasn't yet read Maison Ikkoku to do so at your earliest possible convenience.

I would also like to point out that AnimEigo is currently selling the first DVD of the Urusei Yatsura TV series for a generous $10, with the four subsequent volumes only $15 each. So if anyone was thinking of checking that out (which I strongly encourage), it would be an excellent time to do so.

They're advertising it on the front page, so I assume so, but it's only in the US. Lum is worth the extra five bucks of shipping, though!
