NiGHTS 2 on Revolution?
Thinking of how Air NiGHTS was in development for so long on Saturn and Dreamcast, using some sort of tilt sensor, I wonder if Yuji would be interested in developing NiGHTS 2 for the Revolution?
I was thinking, imagine the freedom and flow you'd have waving your controller through the air, looking like you're conducting an orchestra or something.
I can't think of a more perfect way to control NiGHTS, and hopefully Yuji feels the same way ;)

I think this TailsNZ chap has a point. "Hey, this reminds me of Air NiGHTS" was approximately the 28th thing I thought of after seeing the Revolution controller for the first time. I was thinking a lot of things that day; it's not often I can number my thoughts beyond single digits.

I should introduce myself, I'm not sure if anyone will remember, but I used to run a email magazine called Dreamcast Weekly / Sega World Weekly.
I'd happily take a graphically enhanced NiGHTS compilation (although shame Revolution isn't hi-def), but still hope for a true sequel (although stopped many, many years ago thinking perhaps we'll see it this year every time E3 rolls around, lol). From Wikipedia at least:
"In the December 2000 issue of the Official UK Dreamcast magazine he explained:
"I know a lot of people love it and want us to make a sequel, but for us it's a really important game. Like the way Spielberg likes E.T. so much he won't remake it, I don't want to make another NiGHTS."
In an interview in the November 2003 edition of Edge he was asked whether he would like to develop another NiGHTS game:
"I see NiGHTS as a licence. When dealing with such a licence from the past it is quite a lot of work, but I would like to use NiGHTS to reinforce Sega's identity, yes."
In a February 2005 interview he stated that a NiGHTS sequel would have to be of perfect quality, so it would take a long time to "get it right."

Ah the Dreamcast era, when Sega looked shiny and cool and Sonic games still where good.
I don’t think we will get a Nights sequel, but you can dream if you want.
Ah la era de la Dreamcast, cuando Sega parecÃÂa ser genial y los juegos de Sonic eran Buenos.
No creo que hagan una secuela de Nights, pero nada te impide soñarlo.

Thanks DarkPrime! Yeah it's a shame it came to an end, but those were some great years. I actually work for import store Lik-Sang.com now (the main sponsor of the e-zine) which is excellent.

Yeah, I mean NiGHTS isn't like E.T where if a sequel was made, it'd be a forced continuation of an already finished story.
But a sequel I think at least, would be new levels to play, new music to get stuck in your head, etc. Simply put, more of a good thing :) I for one would love a second helping of it, even if the game system remains the same.
Sure the Sonic sequels for a while now have disapointed many long time fans, but does that make the old Genesis titles any less great? Any less fun to play? But the new sequels are still hits on the sale charts, delighting millions of new gamers.
Except for Yuji Naka's own personal pride, I don't see the harm in a sequel?

Regarding the way Spielberg went back and brazenly altered aspects of E.T. when it was rereleased a few years ago. Not that they could have known at the time of that interview, but it's just not a good example of a creator valuing his work. If they really wanted to evoke that kind of mindset, they should have mentioned Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale's relationship with the Back to the Future series.Crazy Penguin wrote:How so?

I mostly write a lot of the news items for the site, and work with various gaming sites supporting each other. Then also take photos of products, test them
and do their newsletter every few months.
Sorry though, I can't give out discounts. If you google closer to Christmas though, you'll find some new $5 off $40 coupons

I don't think there's enough in NiGHTS that can be built upon any further to really merit a sequel.
A motion sensor Revolution game is an intriguing idea, but would it be able to capture that old NiGHTS magic? Sonic Team haven't hit any home runs in a long time. A NiGHTS game that's anything less than spectacular would damage the integrity of the "series".
Some things are best off left as they are, not everything needs to become a franchise.

I forgot all about that. The interview was taken before the E.T. "remake" though, I think.Regarding the way Spielberg went back and brazenly altered aspects of E.T. when it was rereleased a few years ago.
