Imagine it running out of juice in the middle of a game. You wouldn't even be able to pause. >(Baba O'Reily wrote:It's unusual, and it's yet another thing to worry about getting batteries for.

When I first saw this, I thought it was some photoshop job, but it's legit.
The Revolution Controller "Cradle" plugs into the remote and is Nintendo's answer for games that require more traditional controls.
So uh... Why not just let us use old Gamecube controllers for traditional games and the remote for the weirder stuff? Why do we have to buy an additional controller "cradle"? As far as I can tell, the only difference between this Control cradle and the Wavebird is the extra shoulder button and the reworked C-Stick.

IGN wrote:Nintendo has not yet released official imagery of what the controller shell might look like. However, we've created a mock-up (above) based on what we know of its functionality. The real controller shell is likely to connect to the free-hand-style pointer in a very similar fashion. Please note that we realize our model is not entirely to scale, but this is the best we could do on short notice.

I think it's a decent idea, but there are a couple problems.
Aiming a remote is nothing like aiming a gun. The only kind of game I could see this feeling right with would be something Star Trek. Phasers!
Not nearly enough buttons. why they couldn't add some more, I have no clue.
The whole motion sensor thing seems like a one-trick pony. Is it just me or do you think that there are going to be a whole lot of simple, gimmick games with this?

I only move the controller when I'm throwing it in frustration.Kishi wrote:I just remembered something Gibbon once said about how girls always jerk the controller around when they play games, as if jerking it to the right were going to help the guy on the screen make it to the right any better. This should be just the thing for them.
However, both my mother and my sister move the controller around when they're playing a game, so I'm probably just too butch or something.

does anyone else see Nintendo whoring out their controller? So far, I've seen 2 plug-ins for the damn thing to make it work more like a regular controller. The way I see this, they're doing it to cost us ass loads of money. Highway robbery, I tell ya! Well, I guess it is par for course for Nintendo...

If the thing is honestly able to turn into a decent standard, functional controller, then its' a heck of a lot more flexible than I was expecting. It's hard to know what there would be to complain about, provided that it isn't very expensive. Since Nintendo is really trying to undercut the price of the other consoles, I would assume that they aren't going to want the controller and its basic necessary peripherals to be too expensive, but we'll see...
