The actual game is a lot more interesting than this thread! It's one of the only titles I'm looking forward to this year. I was wondering if anyone else here had been following it.

I only know about it because of an ad on GameFAQs that seemed to glorify the apparent "you can grotesquely murder people" angle.

It's an adventure game that appears to mix the basics of classic point and click action with 3rd person 3d controls, Shenmue-style QTEs, complex conversation and event branching, a thriller-style conspiracy plot, and extremely 24-esque cinematic presentation. I think it looks pretty interesting. There's a downloadable PC demo that will give you an idea of how the mechanics will work, but it's very short. I think the demo is also in this months official xbox mag.

What I'm most excited by is the prospect of existing in the real world, doing things like walking up and down streets, meeting people on their way to work, that kind of thing. I like that Shenmue-esque real-world vibe, and it's not something that's really been attempted much.

It is, isn't it.

Anyway, I'm not very far into the game and already I want to re-do some scenes to see what on earth would happen. There's ample opportunity to play the 'perfect' game... doing everything right as all of the main characters but that's boooring. Instead of helping the police find you, you could totally screw them over if you wanted.

The only criticism I can find is that you can't skip the cut scenes. It's ok the first time through but when you just want to get to a certain bit in a scene with a big 'choice' which is after a lot of talking, it gets to you.

Overall, I’m very happy with it.

Sounds awesome. Can you use psychokinesis to make peoples heads explode?

I'm interested in it, that's for sure. It seems like it's the first truly cinamatic game, in terms of actions being able to directly influence the plot.

I think a friend of mine showed me this a couple months ago, insisting that it was possibly the next Shenmue and something to keep an eye on. I'd never heard of it, but he showed me the website and we downloaded a really awful trailer. I gave him a dirty look and he insisted that it had looked better than that. I guess maybe I should look at this again.

I've played the demo and it's definitely something worth looking into. The dialogue and cut scenes, however, so far seem to be little better than cheesy sub-Hollywood trash, and not even in the charming b-movie Shenmue way.

Maybe that is why it reminds me of 24!

Man, I dunno... it just keeps striking me as Shenmue without the charm or aesthetic sense. If you guys weren't talking about it, I think I'd have given it one disgusted glance and never looked at it again. When is this supposed to come out and what system is it for?

It's for PS2 and Xbox, and I think it's out this week.

I played the demo for the PC...looks very intresting...though I agree it was a little too short. Definitely going to buy it when it's out.
