Am I mistaken, or are you actually asking for another compilation?

That will never happen. Seeing as how Gems for the PS2 is already out in Japan. Sega would be out of their god damn mind to create a Gems Collection Plus only for the US PS2 and Xbox, the two systems that bombed on sales with Mega Colection Plus and Sonic Heroes.

I fully expect to it happen, but on the next generation of consoles. Compilations have replaced spin-offs (such as Spinball and Shuffle) as Sega's primary way of milking the Sonic series.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the lacklustre quality of the ports in Gems was a deliberate decision in order to save something ‘new’ for the next generation of Sonic collections.

Oh I fully expect Sega to release a Sonic Gems Collection+, I just don't expect it to fix Sonic CD or put in games that should be on it, like Chaotix. I'm sure Sega will just add the rest of the Game Gear games and call it a day.

I imagine there'll be a third collection including SegaSonic the Hedgehog, Chaotix, Sonic 3D Saturn/PC, Sonic Pocket Adventure and all of the Master System games. Maybe Sonic Shuffle too. Of course at least one of them will be missing or badly ported - can't expect a complete well made collection any more can we?

I'd be up for a Sonic CD renewal. Fixed sound, graphics and speed, full uncut hi-res movies with the correct endings and stuff and both soundtracks (implemented to match their original Mega/Sega CD versions, so the JP track would always play the Bad Future music in the Metal Sonic race and so on). They should let you select a time period for Time Attack mode too, it always annoyed me that only the "Present" versions were selectable.

Remember when people got really excited about Sonic Jam, and then it was really fun? And how all the game options were open from the beginning? Wasn't that great? And it was ok that Sonic CD wasn't on the compilation (at least then), because we all knew that one day they'd put out another compilation that was just bound to have it and Chaotix and all those games we couldn't track down in the formats and forms they ought to be in.

...and Sonic World was so cool!

I think you'll see some of the remaining uncollected games shoved onto a collection with Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 for the next console generation. Especially if this "next gen Sonic" title winds up beind SA3. That, I imagine, is where Shuffle and Chaotix will wind up. Maybe, MAYBE Segasonic Arcade and Pocket Adventure, but I doubt those will ever be collected anywhere.

The one real fault Sonic Jam had was that you couldn't select your character in Time Attack and Special Stage modes. Other than that oversight Jam is a pretty damn good example of how a small collection of classic games should be handled.
