MMOFG's
I wonder, has anyone done a Massively Multiplayer Online Fighting Game. Because, I have this totally badass idea for a game. I mean I have at least 150 original characters to use. Reply if it is a good idea and how to create it.

Wasn't some Korean company doing a King of Fighters Online that was supposed to be like that? SNK pulled the license after a while and I think the project eventually died, or did it change into something else?
Incidentally, what ever became of that Makaimura Online? I remember it looked cool when it was just announced, then they changed the style later and it looked hideous. I don't think I've heard anything about it since then. Did that ever happen? If I'm not mistaken, that was also being developed by a Korean company...

There was a KoF one, it sucked no oned played it... Because the idea sucked... For one main reason there will be lag and all fighting games are about timing... Also MMO games are about an unique avatar and people would only pick from around ten... Also having 150 avatars is just so dumb, do you understand that space needed for that, thats one of the reasons fighting games have such few... Making 150 different character models all with unique movement sets isn't within reason... There is this thing called common sense, you may want to look it up....

I believe the same Korean company that fucked around on KoF Online is in the process of making Metal Slug Online... And apparently, its in 3d. Assholes.
And an MMOFG just wouldn't work-- I doubt even an a normal online fighting game works, as I hear even CvS2 lags over Xbox Live... And thats a game that isn't very graphically intensive. I'm still skeptical about how DOA Online will perform, given DOA's mash happy speed.
And an MMOFG where you walk around, then challenge someone, then it suddenly turns into a 1 v 1 fighting game seems pretty frivolous- I'm pretty sure you could accomplish all that through a simple lobby/matching service... THe walking around part seems pretty pointless in a fighting game. Its like story in a porno or the voice acting in a Koei game... Completely unneccesary.
Oh yeah, they tried that "RPG that plays like a fighter" thing before... Legend of Legaia I think... It sucked, by the way. I suppose River City Ransom is the closest thing to that, but thats more of a beat-em-up.

Legaia was altogether pretty mediocre. That tower city near the end of the game was kind of neat, but that was the high point. (No pun intended.)
I think Contrail (or whatever they're calling themselves now) were a one-hit-wonder with the original Wild Arms. The Legaia games sucked and all the subsequent Wild Arms sequels have sucked.
But anyway, so that King of Fighters Online actually happened? I could swear I had heard that SNK pulled the license. Just out of curiosity, what was the name of the company behind that?

Wild ARMS is pretty much my favorite RPG (the first 2 Suikodens tie for second place), and while I did play through 2 & got rather far in 3, the sequels can't touch the original WA.
While WA 2 was pretty mediocre, I thought how they went all out with the Western theme with WA 3 was cool.
I cannot comment on Legaia 2 because I haven't played it yet.

There was a beta for it... No one really raved about it from what I heard... Really the only people who would really love it are those die-hard SNK fans... But like any die-hard fans, if you put the name followed by any word they would buy it... And for the record the company was Unotac or UNO Technology...
