I think you hit the note with Xevious the first time; Solvalou was released in 1991, and Marvel Land in 1989. Unless Namco can envision the future, Xevious is the more likely game.

I say those mushrooms are from Libble Rabble, mainly because there are other Libble Rabble cameos in Marvel Land.

There was also another cameo in Marvel Land that I was never able to extract, but it looked similar to the pumpkin carriage in Cinderella... The reason I was never able to take a screenshot of it is because the parade would stop before the (purple) carriage came into full view, so all I'd see is a wheel and a part of a carriage. I'll take a screenshot of it some day.

So indeed. The ship in Xevious doesn't have that blue stuff or the pointy cockpit, though, unless maybe they're some kind of power-up upgrades you have to acquire. I guess I eventually need to sit down and play that with the earnestness.

Marvel Land, incidentally, is an awesome little game.

I'll love whoever translates these forever. Please don't let that deter you if you can translate it but don't want to be loved by me forever.

There's the carriage that cuts off, and I have no idea on how to hack the texture out. I'm deterring from putting it on my site unless I can get a full view of it. But if the carriage rings a bell, it would be nice to know it's origins.

Wow, I didn't think anyone would still have the patience for Marvel Land unless they were like, 12... or maybe I'm thinking of the age that one is most likely to spend time completing it.

ただ。。。
I mean Tada!

----
In the country of light and peace, Coney Land, the Dragon Clan, Fairy Clan, Wing Clan, and Undergrounder Clan all live peacefully in various areas.

There is a hill of peace at the center of Coney Land. At the peak of that hill is the giant amusement park, Marvel Land. Marvel Land has become the relaxation place for all the people of Coney Land. Generally, it is protected by the gentle Fairy Clan.

However, there was something they failed to notice. The ruler of the Undergrounders, Mole...

He disliked that his own powers did not extend further than the Underground, while the fairies, who were weaker in power, protected Marvel Land. Capturing four protector fairies, and recruiting the assistance of the Comet(?) Clan and Majuu(?) Clan to take control of Marvel Land.

Bunny: "Prince!!.... Prince Pako!!"

Bunny: "The princess of Marvel Land has been! Roxxy-sama has! By the Undergrounders' ruler, Mole!"

Pako: "Roxxy's been captured by Mole!?"

If (Pako Image) is taken by moving the lever (up and down arrows) you can attack! (*This is clearly meaningless without proper context)

---

Notes:
* I think the name "Konii Land" is meant to suggest Coney Island.
* "Comet" Clan (suisei) could also be read as "Water" or "Mercury" (as in the planet)
* Majuu Clan does not appear to mean anything (it is a made up word), but it could be something magical, or it might refer to machinery or guns, it could be both, or something else altogether.
* The bunny girl is having trouble communicating, she is unable to say that Roxxy (Rokushi) has been captured. Pako seems to understand, but says literally, "Roxxy was by Mole?!" leaving out the all-important verb. In Japanese you can do that (leaving out nouns is also popular!), but given that the bunny girl could not manage to say "captured" (or stolen or kidnapped or whatever) it's likely that he responds that way on purpose. However, it makes no sense in English, so a proper translation would have left out Bunny's inability to use verbs and you would never have had to wonder about this odd quirk of a foreign language.

It's actually Rukushi--"Luxcie," going by P.E.'s site.

I am filled with glee. Thanks G. Silver.

I was actually hoping the lever/attack image had the name for the attack that Pako can perform... I just called it the clone attack on my site, though I found an American advertisement calling it the "Spirit Whip". Since it was an American advertisement, I am relucatant to use that term.

I was looking through my <a href="http://marvelland.vimscape.com/characters/ target="_blank">characters section, and, uh, I have no idea who the majuu clan might be...
The comet/water clan might be referring to the water minions that frequent the levels, along with the Demon Angle (a boss who looks like a swamp monster). But this is all just speculation.

Wow, I finally managed to get the carriage out by using an infinite time cheat... and there's even an Assault cameo that you can't see at all in any of the light parades unless you put the cheat on.

I still don't know what the carriage is.
