Flicky Booty Shakin'
The other day I was playing Flicky on Sonic Mega Collection. I was doing rather well having a near perfect game. I got all the birds in the bounus games, was getting the highest possible time bounuses, and had a ton of lives. Then when I beat a level, a window popped open and a very pixelated girl in a bikini appeared and danced. I laughed for a while and was surprised that GG! hadn't mentioned it in the Cameos and Relations page. Has this happened to anyone else?

The Japanese promotional flyer for Flicky calls her a "her" and calls the Piopios her "babies". In an interview Yoshiki Kawasaki (the character designer for the original Flicky game) said that he didn't intend for the Piopios to be seen as Flicky's children, but he enjoys the fact that the game can be interpreted that way (or something like that).
Midway's US promotional flyer refers to Flicky as a male.
I think that the woman in the window is in the arcade version as well. It's been a long time since I've last played it.
Hey GG!, where's the Flicky cameo in SDI? That thing is an absolute BITCH to play with a keyboard.
And what's the Flicky cameo in Super Monaco GP? Does the game run on the latest version of MAME? I'm still using an old one and it doesn't look to be on the list.

They're probably both male and female, being an entire race. I don't think anyone would argue against all of the pig-tailed pink Flickies from Sonic 3D and R being female though.Whether or not the Flicky from the Sonic universe is male, female, both, or neither is a largely irrelevant point which could be up for debate.

Well, the Mega Collection port is just a Genesis emulator with the roms. So if something was on the Genesis port it almost has to be on Mega Collection.Frieza2000 wrote:It happens when you get to 240,000 points. I'm surprised they kept it in the Mega Collection port. I'd wondered about that, but didn't want to go through the trouble of finding out without save states. Nice job.
I never knew about this trick, it makes me want to play Flicky up yo 240,000 points....but not that much.

There's a rather in-depth code to make Flicky appear in SDI. You put in a sequence of keys on the player 1 control panel, then another sequence on the player 2 control panel, and start the game as player 2. Apparently, at the beginning of level 2, your satellite changes into Flicky. I've never bothered trying it, but it's in the mame data file, so I guess it works. (It's virtually impossible to play without the coin-op rig anyway.)
Super Monaco GP is emulated in the latest version of mame, but the sound is fucked up and the graphic emulation isn't perfect, either. At the very beginning of the first track, there's a Flicky banner over the course.

What is the code? After scouring the internet the only thing I found was some guy on a message board saying that Flicky makes a cameo when you get a perfect score in the Offensive Half of the Master System version (known as Gloabl Defense).
Are there any good MAME sites any more? I miss mame.dk
Can anyone get screenshots of the SDI and Super Monaco GP Flicky stuff? Can it be hacked or anything? Because SDI is a complete fucking bitch to play.
And on a semi-related note, the little Sega characters that pop up at the beginning of levels in Flash Point, I recognise Flicky, Alex Kidd and the Princess from Sega Ninja, but what's that little robot/space ship thing from?

You're such a big baby.

To get Flicky in SDI, insert 1 credit (only 1) and on the player 1 control panel, press: up, up, down, right, down, left, down, down. Then on the player 2 panel, press fire 3 times and start. You don't turn into Flicky until level 2.
The robot/spaceship character in Bloxeed is Opa-opa. From Fantasy Zone. That should be the most obvious one, jizzweasel.

You're a darling Jared. I'm ashamed to say I've never actually played Fantasy Zone.
Here's a Gens save-state of the bikini girl: http://home.graffiti.net/icecap:graffiti.net/bikini2.gs
You should be able to find a Flicky ROM at emuasylum.com.
