Question concerning Ristar: The Shooting Star
I once heard there were some differences between the U.S. and Japanese versions of Ristar, especially concerning paint edits. I was just wondering what speific changes were made to the U.S. version, or a site that has information on the Japanese version?

Djbrayster has a site on this. I have no idea what happened to it, but it was called Ristar Cluster, and it was pretty cool. But yes, there were a lot of differences between the US and Japanese versions of Ristar. I'll give you some of the difference I can remember.
- In the US version, the title screen only said "Ristar" as opposed to the Japanese verison that said "Ristar: The Shooting Star".
- All of the planets were renamed. For example, Neer (The Japanese version) was renamed Flora (The US version).
- The sprites were completely changed too. A prime example of this would be Itamor Lunch, the boss of the ice planet (Elykiki/Freon); in the US version, he was a blob with a little green hat-thingy, but in the Japanese version, he's a giant blue robot-cat.
- In the first mini-boss of the music planet (Sonata/Neous), the one with the three robot birds, music notes would appear on one of the birds' heads indicating which bird would to attack first in the Japanese version. The US version did not have this.
- The intro AND the ending were both completely changed. I won't go into detail here.

I believe The only change made to the intro was the inclusion of text for the US version, and the change to the ending was the reunion of Ristar with his father (US version) instead of the scene with Greedy and his cohorts plotting for a sequel (Japanese version).
Besides the notes to predict the attack sequence, I think there were other small tweaks made to make the US version harder, but mostly they just altered the enemies' expressions to look less friendly (same procedure as Dynamite Headdy).

Actually...
Ristar's Cluster (DJBrayster's site) is back up. It's at http://ristar.projectsonic.com/ now. I think that he has all of his old information back up, but I have not looked into it yet.
